They’ll just put it on their credit cards and go further into debt.
A lot of financially responsible people put larger trips on credit cards to accrue points and miles. Do people really book rental cars, condos and flights with debit cards?

Doesn’t your trip yesterday qualify you for this category

Hopefully you saw that they have started building the new causeway over Mobile bay on other side of tunnel. First cement pilings are in. Pray it will provide relief

Have fun fighting for a spot and baking on a hot beach with sand in your creases. Surrounded by trashy people.
I’ll never understand it.
Go to a better beach…. Where they limit the people and set chairs and umbrellas up for you.
Then you’ll understand

You should have driven faster.

I used to go from thursday to monday night/tuesday back when I was in that area of the country. It’s well worth the extra money.
Several of the rental companies only offer Saturday to Saturday rentals. It totally fricks the traffic on Saturdays from Baton Rouge to Orange Beach starting today until the 4th of July.

So did Google maps, that’s why we went around just past Pascagoula and took Hwy 90, not much more you could’ve done when you hit Mobile..
What about the ferry at Dauphin Island?

Be through the tunnel by 7 am, going in and heading out. Only way I will do it.

One of the main get away spots for people in So Cal is the Colorado river. About a 4 hour drive. When you get into the desert on the 10 fwy there's an off ramp that cuts through the middle of the desert. One lane each way, A smooth road yet dangerous as people tend to pass when they shouldn't. Road closed down for 8 hours. First pic taken right after it happened, second pic is the result. Was reported the car that caused the accident was doing 110 mph, tried passing over a solid yellow going into a curve.
Reported 4 fatalities

Such as yourself?
We left at 5:30am from Central on Thursday and got to Flora-Bama at 10am. Had the first bushwhackers of the day

Doesn’t matter what time you leave. Left Metairie at 10am and didn’t get to OB until 3pm.
“Doesn’t matter what time you leave” … leaves at peak traffic time.

Going to the beach on a holiday weekend or during the summer in general is amateur hour
You go in spring and fall when its less crowded and weather is nice

Ferry can get a little pricey.
Depends on number of passengers.
15 dollars for the vehicle and 6 dollars a person. Minimum of 21 dollars to cross for one person and a car.
Family of 4, 39 dollars to cross.
At those prices and the detour through BFE, you have to think of it more as an attraction than a detour to avoid the tunnel. As the ferry ride across is 40 minutes and depending on your arrival time, you may have to wait for the next one if the ferry is full. So much for saving your delays on the tunnel and causeway.
Best detour to avoid the tunnel is the little one in Downtown or head to the Africatown Bridge and stay on 90 into Daphne to avoid I-10 Bridge traffic.

Lemme guess. An overturned 18 wheeler on 1-10 made your trip to Slidell 3 hours?
