-8 where I am. I will be outside for about 3 minutes today. Brutal, hate the cold. The ppl in IL,Ia,MN all have it much worse.

The current temp right now is -29, but the wind died down so the wind chill is only -51 degrees.

-21 temp and -51 wind chill at my house now. My house is making all kinds of strange noises. I heard a thud at 5am and jumped out of bed scared a pipe had burst.

Very true. The risk of harm increases, but when it is 0 degrees or -20 degrees you can barely tell a difference when you are bundled up. My brother lives in Northern MN and I go ice fishing vwith him once a year so I have felt a wide range of freezing temps.

No, it doesn't. The difference between say, 0 degrees with no wind and 0 degrees with a 20 mph wind is huge. As long as you're dressed properly you can be outside with no wind and be comfortable. When the wind starts howing it becomes unbearable.

Just went outside. Damn, its cold even at -8. Screw that -40 wind chill. We have zero wind right now. It took about 30 seconds for my beard to freeze haha.
Everything is rock cold. Damn car would barely start. Sounded like my pops 4430 John deere in the fall.

Don't know about boiling water but I've personally threw just tap water in the air and it turned to ice before it hit the ground when I was stationed north of Chicago.

Last week when it was sub-zero temps my corgi literally just laid down and couldn’t move after roughly 5 minutes outside. I had to go pick him up(though he was perfectly fine the moment his feet touched indoors).
My mastiff almost fell over trying to poop as she was trying not to let her feet touch the ground. Seems mine have roughly 3-5 minutes before it hurts them to walk/put weight in their paws.
My wheaten terrier had no issues though. Must be that her paws have a lot more fur cover on them.

Hard for me to comprehend 23 below zero. That's cold that i never want to experience.
