Serious question - how do y’all walk your dogs in that weather? Our dog loses his mind when he has to go outside to pee in 40 degree weather. I know for a fact if he felt a -55 windchill he would instantly die.

-43 windchill here, winds howling actual temp is -20. Schools are closed tomorrow due to sustained -30 windchill temps. That seems like an extreme threshold to cancel a day of school

Haven't seen anything like this in my life.
Hunkering down tonight until lunchtime Thursday. Kinda like a nuclear bomb went off or i guess like hurricanes down South.
But no mosquitos!

It was a good question at those extreme temps. But the temps they are experiencing would likely give a different answer.

Not usually, this is pretty close to record breaking... hell where i am, they dont normally cancel school until it snows 12 inches... just the way it is. Normally you deal and survive, this is something else though.

Some of the weather balloon readings from Minnesota are ridiculous tonight. Tropopause sitting at about 1 km up. You know those really high wispy clouds? They'd be setting up about 2000-3000 feet above the ground.

School here is not cancelled often. Sub zero weather doesn't do it.
Honestly if there is no wind the temps just under zero aren't brutal.
Heavy snow during the morning commute - or wind chills below -35 have been the standard historically to cancel.
