Not at all, but there are so many people acting like someone can just snap their fingers and these things show up in massive quantities all over the country.
It's a sign of our times that people are so used to having everything they want or need that they can't fathom how a shortage can happen.

I don’t know, but it’s amazing how quickly the “flatten the curve” plan came out and all these professionals predicted we would start running out of things, very early.
The people that study this have made these predictions.
Again, I’m speaking of the future. We can’t say we don’t know now.

In 6 months this will be old news and all forgotten. Nobody wants to see their bills go up because we moved manufacturing to the USA and the price of everything doubled because we have a minimum wage and workers rights
^^ This x1000 ^^
Made in America will come at a cost that no one will want to pay for after their memory fades (in 6-12 months). Leaders do not have the will to make hard decisions like this when their “contract” is up for renewal every 2 to 6 years.

Have to say that I do find it beyond annoying that while reading Tigerdroppings and checking yahoo mail etc etc I see numerous different adds for masks for sale.

Meanwhile you have jackasses posting selfies of themselves wearing a mask going to Walmart.
That’s one way of looking at it. The other way is to look at yourself or your hospital’s administration and ask why some attention whore was smart enough to buy masks but I/we weren’t?

My wife is sewing masks with a pocket for a coffee filter.
Smart people don't depend on the gov't, I guess after Katrina and the flood you waited for the gov't to fix you back up. Are the masks my wife a N-95 mask?, I doubt it, but if we have to go out it will protect others from me and do a pretty good job of protecting me.
Self reliance always.

Remember how President Trump has been preaching since day one how we need to bring manufacturing back to the US from overseas, especially China? Remember how he’s been working hard to make that happen? Remember how Democrats and their propaganda wing in the media have fought him tooth and nail the entire time?
Make sure you remember come November.

After September 11, 2001, America woke up to a new reality: We’re vulnerable to catastrophe on our own soil. That tragedy sparked the formation of units dedicated to shoring up our defenses against both man-made and natural disasters. Even a new federal department was created to insure that we would never be caught off-guard again, Homeland Security.
Preparations and exercises became the norm for first responders and health agencies, both public and private. Intense education programs were presented to everyone who might be involved in an emergency dealing with chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) events. America became nearly as prepared as Israel to handle any of these emergencies.
Then complacency set in. Americans, especially the younger, technology-native portion of our population, are instant-gratification oriented. We lost interest in the possibility of some disaster coming to our land as the years passed and memory of the terrorist attacks faded. We again assumed we were too strong to be assaulted.
Now we’re facing the B in CBRNE preparedness, and it has caught us unprepared. Just last year the unit that was supposed to deal with pandemics was disbanded. The rot had begun a decade earlier, however. Funding in Homeland Security began to shift to preparation for man-made disasters as overall funding began to decline.
The possibility of a public health emergency on the scale of what we’re now seeing was ruled to be negligible. After all, there had not been a novel, fast acting and deadly virus since the 1918 H1N1 pandemic. Then that China man ate that bat.

Yes. The United States has not been really threatened militarily since WW2.
But we’ve had 5 Pandemics in the last 20 years.
I would like to see a large portion of our military budget spent on this, rather than endless wars in foreign lands.
Absolutely, best way to fight complacency is to become complacent in other areas, very smart.
China after unleashing this try’s to blame it on us, they aren’t our friends and may feel cornered with the world turning on them at the end of this. Who knows what’s to come

Well since Congress decides to spend trillions of feel good unnecessary social programs where the money is stolen by non profits. Bill Jefferson had 600 non profits set up at ACORN in one address in the Treme. He's not the only one, ALL OF CONGRESS has these money laundering schemes. So NO MONEY for what's really needed like roads, etc... And China PAYS our Congress to let the CEO's move all of manufacturing to CHINA. THese people should be held accountable. THere are very FEW honest pro Americans in Congress.

It's because we are the USA that entitled bastards feel like they should throw away a barely worn mask, and then grab a new one for each and every patient they see.

There is a ton of waste in our military. Tighten it up and direct some to pandemic preparation.

Airborne and droplet spread compounds can still be spread to others via external inoculation of masks.
This means that if there is anything on the outer portion of the mask, something that was picked up from a previous patient, it can be spread via air passage through the mask outward.
If you want full contamination prevention protocols, you have to change masks.

quote:CEO went on a national TV and lied his arse off stating that he did exactly "snap his fingers" and order a massive ramp up in his own words "months ago". As CEO they can do it and expect it to happen. Bloomberg is a prime example of this with his campaign quick start and just as quick cessation.

#1 lie being "Months Ago" when the pandemic was declared less than "months ago" (in fact just this month is the actual declaration by WHO of a "pandemic status, 3-11-2020).

nurses here dont seem to understand this
they wear their mask in the room then put it in their front pocket.
I pointed it out to them like "youre taking the virus out of the room and putting in your front pocket"
the reply was "Well it protects me, who cares if other people get it"
to which I pointed out "you put it in your front pocket about 7" below your nose."

That’s not being entitled.....that’s the ideal infection control standard.
