It boggles my mind that the USA is asking people to sew masks and use bandanas

Our doctors and nurses are being put in such harms way. It’s awful. We’re the wealthiest most advanced nation in the world. We’ll spend $116,000 on a toilet for the Army but we don’t seem to have enough masks and other protective wear for a pandemic. Why didn’t the dept of HHH or CDC or NIH build a warehouse and stock it full of this stuff for a pandemic. Like a strategic oil reserve for pandemics. It’s not like this stuff is perishable. Now we have Grandmothers who were quilting a week ago sewing these. It’s sad. Thank you to our frontline.

ETA: Some of this equipment is perishable. My point still stands. The government takes trillions of dollars tax payments every year from hardworking Americans. They should have figured it out.

US is like the Titanic. A lot of nice and fancy things but when an emergency happens, we don’t have enough life boats for everyone.

Because we have sold our soul to China for manufacturing purposes.

This is a national security issue that needs to be addressed.

We NEED to manufacture essentials here for these very purposes when foreign enemy nations actively work against our interests.

And the CEO of Johnson & Johnson was lying to America on maria bartelromo this morning say J&J has working "months" to have enough PPE out there.

Wuhan Flu has been active int he USA about 2 months, January to now roughly middle March. If they worked on it starting January we'd have plenty!

We are too dependent on China and it’s biting us in the chin now.

There will be massive changes that will come from this. Has to be.

There is no excuse for the United States to have this happen to us.

Shout out to the nurses and doctors and staff fighting through this.

Hopefully lessons are learned.

Four respiratory pandemics in the last 20 years. Hopefully for the fifth one we will be more prepared.

Eight pandemics in the last 100 years were flu or Coronavirus respiratory illnesses. Only HIV and Ebola were not respiratory based.

I’m hoping this leads to many US companies pulling manufacturing out of China

It should at least be obvious to everyone --and not just some scientists without lobby power behind them -- that this type pandemic is far and away the biggest "national security" threat we face.

Yes. The United States has not been really threatened militarily since WW2.

But we’ve had 5 Pandemics in the last 20 years.

I would like to see a large portion of our military budget spent on this, rather than endless wars in foreign lands.

This was by design. Our elected leaders in both government And business decided we'd be a "service economy" and all manufacturing would be outsourced to the third world.

This works great until the people who make the shite decide they dont like you.

All the manufacturing turned into activism and entertainment horseshite.

Instead of blue collar workers who make shite weve turned into cosmopolitan pussies who measure our worth by what we see on social media.

Japan had the same mindset when they attacked Pearl Harbor.

We adapted, and they did indeed awaken a sleeping giant.

It is, unfortunately. The elastic band on the masks deteriorates over years. Docs are using expired masks and having this problem.

Sounds like a perfect time for Trump to invoke the DPA.
