AA has suspected and accused their union of tampering with planes recently. There’s a reason he was caught on camera. It probably has more to do with the contract dispute than it does about terrorism, but it’s too early to rule out either.

I got a AA flight to Tokyo next week. Hopefully there are no pissed off mechanics in the DFW area.

Was just about to put that in there. Looks like AA will have some good leverage during mediation.

I'm no fan of unions, and American has some of the worst like APA... but this contract dispute has really fricked them over and it makes you wonder if Doug Parker should have cut a deal a long time ago. American may win in the courts, but the hits to operational reliability and its reputation are going to have a lasting impact.

Yeah, he isn’t going to have many friends one way or another.
Even if he doesn’t go to jail, he’ll be fired for cause by American, will screw the union in contract negotiations, and probably get blackballed by both sides over it.

Tampering with a plane is not the way to solve a union dispute. It is however a way to go to jail, and also harm future sales of your airline.
