Is there anything tackier than asking to contribute money for things at work?

Most recent example is someone in another service line is retiring and I just got a blast email asking to contribute to her retirement gift.
I know this lady from in passing in the break room, I’m not giving you money to send her to a spa for or jelly of the month club. Get the frick out of here.
Baby gifts, kids baseball team, blah, blah, blah. Go panhandle outside your nearest grocery store for that shite.

Kids who don't do ANYTHING and ask for money for their sports.

My wife's old boss was making over 200k a year and he and his wife would constantly post on FB asking for people to pay their kids little league or dance lesson bills. Their household income put them in the top 10% and they still begged online like a hobo on a street corner.

I hate people selling stuff at work. shite is expensive too. $20 for a tube of cookie dough. $15 for a little Bundt cake. I decided a long time ago I don’t buy any of it.

We work in entirely different service lines and do not interact. There are over 100 people here. If her coworkers want to throw in for a gift, all good, but asking the entire office is low brow. There are people here who couldn’t pick her out of a lineup and are being asked to give her money.

taught High School for 25 years, every team, group or activity had something. each kid also had something. They knew my rule, not buying or giving anything. I can't do them all and it would not be fair to give to some.
