Is there a more overhyped "holiday" than New Year's Eve?

It's on valentine's day levels of forced interaction and consumerism

if this is how we judge holidays, then it has to be Christmas, no?

By a mile, even. Birth of Christ? Ain't nobody got time for that.

Have a drink. Watch some football. Eat some finger foods. Kiss your wife at midnight. What’s the issue?

There is not imo. Personally, I despise NYE activities. I can see how some people enjoy it but after college, I don't find it appealing at all. I enjoy that it happens though because tonight I'll be cooking a steak and watching college football, not worrying about having to go to work tomorrow.

I guess that depends on what you think the actual point of Christmas is..

Tell us about this horrible issue that has you bothered?
NYE def doesn’t rank up there with major “consumerism” holidays.

You don’t enjoy setting things on fire, drinking champagne, and making out with floozies at midnight?

wouldn't that apply to all holidays?

Never knew anyone that actually celebrated that

it's ok. my wife might even let me order a pizza tonight, seeing as how it's a special occasion. can do without the hours long artillery barrage, though.

We celebrate at my parents, hang out with family, friends, and drink good drinks and eat good food. Treat it much like any other holiday
You certainly don’t have to go into a middle of a loud crowd of drunk strangers in a city to celebrate new years

Defeats the purpose of living in a quiet suburb when all the local idiots want to set off military grade levels of explosives for two hours in the middle of the night
NYE sucks after college

It’s gotten to be more of a pain in the arse than anything.
