Literally any retailer would do the same. Their customer service being great is hugely exaggerated. In fact most companies wouldn’t even make you send back the damaged package.
My packages get stolen all the time. Every retailer refunds/resends no questions asked.

I know they are spending a ton of money in creating their own logistics companies. Why not? They can eventually use that infrastructure to compete with UPS/FedEx/USPS in the carrier market, too

The thing is I don't even want to drive to the store. I like getting off of work and my shite is waiting at my door. I don't mind waiting 2 days.

This "likes" vs. the "dislikes" on the OP is interesting. I wonder just how good the OT is as a focus group?
AMZ is into so much--retail merchandise growth is not as important to them I suspect as other areas of the company. I suspect there are people who years ago bought Apple because of their iTunes marketing of music.
AMZ will continue to grow but maybe not so fast in general retail merchandise would be my guess.

YES
For me it was always about convenience. No tax free shipping. But the tax thing has affected it some, defaulting to the USPS for deliveries has really damaged my desire to default use it. For example the stuff I ordered on Black Friday showed up to my house on Thursday of last week. USPS lost the package. Now to amazons credit I got the stuff for free as they refunded my purchase. But it’s not the point. I looked the other day when this happened and this year I’ve had quite a few orders miss their delievery guarantees. I also had to file a claim earlier this year when the post office showed they delivered my package but didn’t. Luckily i was home because it was a computer. It showed up two days later and I got two free months of Prime out of it.
The deals they have are usually only their in house branded stuff. And I just don’t find I’m getting the best deals anymore, since damn near every retailer offers free shipping over $50 and I’m not having to pony up $100/year for prime. Hell I have a Target Red Card and their holiday deals have been on point, get 5% off and free shipping on anything or instore pickup.
With smartphones/app based shopping its so easy to find deals.

where have you been? they been charging taxes for well over 5 years now 
that is when i stopped buying there the very same day.
unless i absolutely have no other choice to get a better price after taxes and shipping is added, which almost never happens, then i dont buy from there.
back when i almost exclusively did my online buying from them, it was $25 to qualify for free shipping but now its $35, and i hear its about to go up to $50 after this christmas

This is me too.
Curbside grocery pickup is rolling out all over Austin now which is another bonus where I dont even get out the car. We have home delivery but it's a little too expensive relative to just going there but soon it will be the way I go. Whatever to minimize the time to spend doing BS tasks the better.

We are out in the country and to and from Knoxville is two gallons of gas and an hour of time. To that add west Knoxville traffic (often as much gas wasted at traffic lights), and businesses that don't have what they say they do, and Amazon saves us time and money.
We don't go shopping every day, maybe two days a week, often only one. Items get here faster with Prime that they would if we ordered and picked up three to four days later.

Yep. I was looking for a new pair of binoculars this year, and had been looking at the Vortex Diamondback models on Amazon. They ran about $225-250 on sale (regular $300). I found them on Optics Planet on Black Friday for $119, plus $11 shipping.
I still order harder to find items (mainly books, wood working supplies) on Amazon, but other retailers are catching on.

Damn near everything I've bought on Amazon has been damaged, or factory blemished, or returned to the original store for whatever reason. It's embarrassing when someone opens a gift you bought off of Amazon and the enamel is chipped or the packet of screws is missing. It's all crap, not shopping 'there' anymore.

While I did the majority of my Christmas shopping on Amazon out of convenience, I can't recall the last time I actually got 2 day shipping. Maybe it's where I live, but I at the very least its 50/50 whether it will come in 2 days.
I just got aggravated with it. With most orders $50+ online getting free 2 day shipping anyway, Prime isn't as desirable as it once was.
