Is the "shine" coming off of Amazon a little bit for you

I used to buy big things on Amazon but now that they charge tax and their deliveries are not as predictable I find myself using Amazon more and more as just a reference place to look up products that I then buy someplace else.
I bought a 55 inch TV at this Christmas season at Best Buy that I found on Amazon and I bought a nice Nikon camera online at Adorama that I read about on Amazon. Adorama's price was better.
I have used the 2 hour pickup feature at Home Depot and like it. It is nice to shop online and then go pick up the order in 2 hours without having to walk the store.
Asking just to see if others are experiencing similar things. Have the other retailers found ways to get your money that you used to give to Amazon?
I expect Amazon to continue to grow but it seems to me the brick and mortar stores and other online retailers are starting to find ways to keep up with Amazon. (Wal Mart said as much in their last conference call. I hate shopping at WMT and do not but I may use their 2 hour pick up in the future.)

This x1000.
Honestly over the last two years of terrible deals except on Amazon products and shipping issues, I am thinking of cancelling my prime account.
It is funny because this is what B&M stores complained about for so many years.

Just opened app and I have 26 orders currently on the way to my house from amazon so I guess not

Nope, Amazon only gets better and better where I live.
We recently got the Treasure Truck in PHX metro....that's kinda fun to see what deals they are selling. You have to act fast though cause any deal they sell on the truck that day sells out in minutes usually.
Deliveries here only get quicker. Pretty much everything I order from Amazon prime arrives at my house 1-2 days later.
There are Amazon services here that will even get your stuff to you within 2 hours(some in just one hour). They have their version of UberEats that I haven't tried out yet as well.

I use it but not a lot. Every single time I order a Prime item it never gets here in two days. I don't know what it is, but every single time they do something like refund my money or give me something, so it's not really a big deal.

I've used Amazon to get a lower price at a local store.
Many stores will match the Amazon price if you print out the Amazon product with its price shown and take it with you.
The item has to be exactly the same, such as model number for electronics.

I will research items on Amazon and find their best price. Then go to a local outlet and get them to price match Amazon.
Sales goes to local businesses, no shipping, same prices, same taxes.

I like amazon because of their return policy. I find myself buying all my sex toys from there. I can use and return what I don’t like and no questions are asked.

I never really had Prime problems

Amazon has seemed to have gotten “not as great” in the last 6 months. The OP is right. Now that amazon charges tax it takes some of the mystique off of ordering off amazon. I’ll do the same some times look at the product in amazon and buy it in store or another website and save the 10%

Did fine you can't assume they are lowest price seems they pull some airline pricing sometimes bought something for $25 was thinking of doing another and it was $39 with only a few left

I'm the same way. I used to buy just about everything on Amazon, but now I've found Walmart and Target's website prices are a lot of times better. This was especially true for Christmas toy shopping.
It's a great tool to read reviews, but I now google the product I am interested in buying and then see what price other online retailers are selling it for.

We sell most of the big box stores and Amazon and all of them have developed algorithms to check online prices. Amazon prices almost exclusively using these algorithms and sometimes they have just crazy high or crazy low prices on items we are familiar with that within a day all of their big online competitors match.
I think their growth is going to be in food and media. Growth in those areas will be huge.
I sense the growth of Amazon's market share in hard goods is slowing.
I would not be surprised to see Uber or Lyft get more involved in the delivery of goods--particularly heavier goods, food and drugs. (They both should get into the pickup truck business IMHO--send Uber to pick up at that sheet of plywood you bought at Home Depot with 2 hour pickup for example.)
I am in Nashville frequently and this two hour pick up thing is really big there. Kroger has a store near where I stay and I saw 8 cars picking up orders at their sidewalk pickup spot. It's easy to see how people would order food and pick it up on their way home from work.

The only problem I've had is that the post office doesn't want to leave packages at your door like UPS, even when you've redirected delivery.
But Prime is worth $100/year just for music and video.

I did the brunt of my Xmas shopping yesterday afternoon on amazon..noticed the tax increase but is what it is. It is a good reference point as is google shopping.

I have not had a problem with Prime shipping; everything gets here in 2 days. I buy large items from local stores.
