Milwakee tool had an assembly plant in Greenwood at one time and every tool they made was FUBAR. Nissan plant in Jackson had the worst rep of any assembly plant cause of culcha.

Imagine being one of the 0.5% of Hispanics living in Greenville, MS. Yikes.

You would have loved it. You are a high performer. You’d have enjoyed small town Delta life, made a respectable living and enjoyed delicious food.

Not at all. Land is very reasonably priced. You don't have to have any neighbors at all if you don't want them.

The invention of the tractor and farming corporations put an end to the delta and delta towns.

Replaced 50 jobs with one tractor. Lots of people lived their whole lives there and didnt want to leave. They are still there living on govt assistance. The towns are falling a part because everyone else left.

Towns like ferriday were once thriving places.

Cleveland isn't too bad. There's a small university there so there is a middle class that doesn't exist in other parts of the Delta. Not too far from Memphis either.

Just looked it up... JEsus, I didn't think there were places in America that could look that bad.

Apparently a tornado hit Belzoni in 1992 and did between $50k and $500k in improvements.

Probably a higher % living there illegally working ag jobs. MS is going bonkers right now with task forces to eradicate illegal immigrants. Most likely self defeating as they provide a good workforce for the crop, chicken, and catfish farmers.

I still LOL every time I see this sign when I’m headed to Memphis. It’s outside Clarksdale, MS.

Not sure if they still do, but I know several farmers in the south delta were importing South Africans for farm hands as well.

It’s the thing to do. You have to jump through hoops to get them and to stay in compliance with the labor department, but it’s the tits once they get here. They show up to work, are way more educated and mechanically inclined than the locals, basically beg to average 80 hours a week with smiles on their faces, and they go home and you don’t have to baby sit them for winter.

South Africans kind of view it as an internship and they’ll come work a handful of years and go back home. Half these bastards have farms and ranches at home that are bad arse. A lot of people go and hunt with them after they’ve had them working on the farms here.

The current state of the MS Delta is the result of the Democratic Party's agenda of filling up the Welfare programs with poor, minimally educated constituents. There are families there that have never worked and have been enrolled in every "free" program since JFK and LBJ were in office.

If you don't think so, go to Greenville MS and look around. It doesn't take long to see what's going on.

What major industries drive the area? I know of a few large shipbuilding yards but there doesn't appear to be much outside of that to generate income in the area.

Shipbuilding yards?

Those guys are getting displaced as black South Africans take more farm land from whites. They are good, hard-working, educated and skilled. The Delta is filled with them right now during the harvest.

You’ll eventually see a number of South African land owners in the Mississippi Delta like you see Italians now who came to the Delta 150 years ago as workers.

Don't think it's that crazy that an area bordering the Mississippi River would have some shipbuilding going on
