The delta stretches further south in LA.

Big fan if the area but the decline in duck hunting makes it less appealing.

Would rather the Missouri, Kansas area.

Truth! Especially the "isn't elite" part.

50 plus years ago farming mechanized, jobs that took dozens, now are done by one person. Unfortunately, too many people stayed instead of moving to more prosperous areas where jobs are more plentiful.

When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, small factories dotted the landscape, but NAFTA killed most of those.

There are very few good jobs in the delta and no jobs are coming for the foreseeable future. A mandatory evacuation of those un/underemployed should be initiated immediately.

Legalizing the cultivation of marijuana would certainly help.

They basically gerrymandered a district that got Benny Thompson in office and has been there ever since. The only thing he has done for that district is a fish fry around voting season. Crazy how his net worth has grown.

You're probably passing by soy bean fields. Land of the rich. Those DUI checkpoints are always fun.

the curse of slavery. ETA: Not sure why the DVs. You can't enslave people and expect not to feel some form of wrath.

The poorest areas are African American communities though, so this doesn't make sense. The curse against slavers part.

The truth is, that a lot of those areas were always a few rich families, surrounded by slaves and poor white farm hands. Its still the same way now, except the Slave's descendants and poor white farm hand's descendants have multiplied and are still poor living off government assistance.

The rich families are still rich
