re: Office Bathroom Horror Stories - bbqguy
One of my oldest son's first jobs post college was working for and later managing a fast food franchise. The franchise's restroom cleaning policies was to tidy up both restrooms once an hour. My son said there was no comparison, the ladies room was always more of a nightmare than the men's room. He...

re: Ray Wylie Hubbard new album-'Tell The Devil I'm Gettiin' There As Fast As I Can' - bbqguy
I've heard a couple of cuts off the new album on SiriusXM, including the title track duet with Lucinda Williams and Eric Church. Good stuff all around. It appears to have a bluesy, boozy feel to it. I'm going to Amazon now to purchase and download for those long car trips....

re: Reverse Seared Filet and Jumbo Lump Crab Meat - bbqguy
I have been using the reverse sear method on steaks and thick pork chops for a couple of years now. It's the only way to go. Consistent results and no more over cooked protein....

re: What set of pots and pans would you recommend? - bbqguy
We have a set of All Clad. Great cooking vessels but they need to be cleaned with Barkeeper's Friend, as stated. They can get funky looking if you don't. They are expensive, but the last set you'll ever need to buy. A 12 inch non-stick skillet is also a great thing to have....

re: For those who got married a 2nd time, how did you do it? - bbqguy
Engagement and wedding rings. I took my dad and grandfather's wedding rings (both deceased) and had my ring made out of both of them. Small home wedding with our kids, siblings, and our mothers present. Good luck to the two of you....

re: Totaled my car. How good is Geico with claims? - bbqguy
I've had Geico for years. Never had a minute's problem from them. Totaled my vehicle 4 years ago and was treated very well on the settlement and with my rates afterwards. I'd recommend them to anyone....

re: Ribeye Cooking Tips - bbqguy
Reverse sear is hard to beat. Tried sous vide and to be honest, liked the dry heat of the oven better. Season with salt and pepper, put in 250 degree oven until steak reaches desired temp (wife and I like 127 degrees), remove from oven, rest for 10 minutes, sear in a hot cast iron skillet 2 minutes ...

Jimmy Lafave passed away Sunday 5/21 - bbqguy
Searched and didn't find anything posted about this yet. He passed away Sunday after fighting cancer for a while. I never understood how this guy wasn't a major star during his life. What a voice! I guess being from Austin and being identified with the Red Dirt music crowd did him in. Great talent a...

re: Frying shrimp - bbqguy
The biggest thing about cooking seafood is not to over cook it. Most of the mistakes I've made and seen others make is simply leaving the seafood frying too long. I find it doesn't take as long to properly fry seafood as you are led to believe. Shrimp take very little time in 340 degree oil, which i...

re: Just got told i have shingles... - bbqguy
Sorry about that. I had them one time and they were painful as all hell. They were on one side of my chest and back, kind of in a line. It felt as if someone had hit me with a 2x4 across there. Took about a week to go away after a doctor's visit, shot and round of medicine...

re: Can someone summarise what Briles did exactly? - bbqguy
If Briles was as guilty as everyone thinks, why did Baylor pay the man a $20M settlement after he was terminated as reported? It seems that if he was fired for covering up rape they wouldn't have given him crap. As an afterthought, wouldn't he be facing some kind of criminal prosecution if he wa...
