I'm not sure how dangerous it is to the adult age (non-child and non-elderly) who are healthy, but the rapid pace at which it is spreading and the pretty rapid death toll growth are concerning. It doesn't help that it is in a country that has tons of people, and one in which tons of people travel from to the U.S..

Probably pretty bad for children and the elderly. We're still learning about it.

Strangely, it seems not ton ffect children the same way. Most/all have neen asymptomatic. There are some theories about this having to do with childhood vaccinations providing some kind of secondary immunity.

Contagious? Yes

Remember the Sars outbreak in 2003, it's a lot like that. Back then 8098 people got sick and 774 died.
It is MUCH more contagious that SARS but not as deadly.

I posted a link to an article yesterday on here which said so far this flu season (2019/2020) the "regular" flu has killed 8,200 Americans.

A rapidly spreading, nasty new version of flu could be "really that dangerous".

If it already throughout the United States, things would get pretty miserable quickly, I guess.

8,400 people have died from the flu here in America this flu season. Coronavirus is just a respiratory virus. Nothing special about it that will kill you any different from the flu.

It's weak af. Easily spread but no real bite like bird or swine flu has and not as lethal as HIV or ebola.

Headed to a buffet with some of my coworkers in a few minutes, the General Tso is to die for, pray for me.

How many have died from the flu so far this year?
How many have died so from Bat Soup Fever?

There’s your answer.

The issue is what others have said is the incubation time. Unlike SARS that made you sick quickly, killed quickly, and it quickly ran its course. The coronavirus has spread more and will take much longer to run its course and infect millions more people. With a 2.5% mortality rate, China could easily have over a million deaths this year if this is not contained. That gets multiplied by 10 if this goes worldwide.

Why do people downvote this?

I know this is the OT, but when I came into this thread I was thinking "let me see what all of these geniuses have to say". I skimmed over them and then saw your post. If I take anyone serious when it comes to something medical it will be you (not just because you are a nurse, that's part of it, but not all nurses are equal.. but you have proven that you know what you are talking about).. But it always makes me laugh when someone post something that is a fact and people downvote it..

they are making it out to be but if you look at the numbers its not, its just spreading fast but very few people die from it and the ones dying seem to be the weak and malnourished who get infected

if anything the scare is in how fast it spreads but not that its a danger to kill you

that said, those who think its spread or they can get it from carona beer should be euthanized immediately for the betterment of earth
