We are, undoubtedly, not healthier.

That also doesn't mean it was a bad decision to move away from smoking as a society.

I think it's very likely that a large part of the anxiety pandemic is due to people no longer smoking.

That's a part of it, obviously.

But expected lifespan continues to increase, up to 79.0 currently.

Idk but one year one of my old companies started firing people for accessing porn on company devices and the next year their main issues were harassment and mental wellness. Well duh you took away peoples stress outlet. HR head didn't think that joke was as funny as I did.

But anyway people may be healthier but they aren't as chill.

yes for me, because I don't have to smell that nasty arse rancid shite everywhere indoors. The smoking sections of restaurants and planes was like having a peeing section of a pool.

Its because the smoke kills the cilia in your throat and airways that are necessary for respiratory defense/immunity

No. The food is probably more poisonous than it was back then. Cancer rates sure didn't plummet.

Being able to keep people alive longer due to modern medicine doesn't necessarily mean we are healthier as a society. It just means we can keep unhealthy people alive longer.

So not sure what "facts" you are using.

I kept hearing about how Europeans are so much healthier than Americans but good lord there are a lot of people who smoke and if they don’t smoke they’re vaping.

No, and it's because the tobacco companies like RJ Reynolds knew the end was coming for smoking. So they took their piles of cash and bought companies like Nabisco. Then turned loose the best scientists money can buy (the same ones that understood what made smoking addictive) and turned them loose on food products. So that Cheez-it has just right texture, size, crispness, salt, and cheese coating that makes you want more.

I can tell you from personal experience there aren’t as many of them waddling around.

Holy cow coming back to the US after being gone awhile is a sobering experience on the obesity levels of Americans.

Especially black women. I bet 85% of them are obese or morbidly obese.

Agreed, smoking indoors needed to go. However, i doubt cancer diagnosis have decreased at all. The American lifestyle will always lend itself to different types.

Back when there were smoking sections in restaurants, two, three decades ago, when we went to New England and there were lines out the doors of some restaurants, we'd ask to be put on the no smoking list, and every damned time we were seated immediately. A major eye opener for us.

People are drinking much less.
People are using tobacco much less.
Earlier detection of cancers, much better treatment options; cancer deaths continue to fall
Lifespan expantcy recently raised to 79.0.

The above are facts, and are easily verifiable.

What facts is your opinion based on?
