you will need glasses or contacts again when you reach 50, its just how things are because your eyes change as you get older.
when they do it, you can see instantly as soon as they are finished, but the bright light will blind you until that stuff they give you wears off.
for about 10 yrs it will be great and you can see perfect, by 45 you are not gonna notice it, but small print gets harder to read, and by 50 you will need to go back to glasses or contacts
i did it at age 35 for both eyes, and now im back wearing glasses again.
i would definitely not do it over again if i had the chance to go back in time

Wait to pull the trigger until you can get you one of those "one eye free" coupons.

Had it done 17 years ago after having -11 in both eyes and astigmatism and had been wearing big coke bottle glasses since kindergarten. I would pay many times over. I still have 20/20, though my eyes do get dryer than before the procedure.
Easily the biggest quality of life upgrade I've had in my life for a single purchase.

Got it done at 30 with the hopes of having 20 years of no glasses. 10 years later, I can tell my vision isn't 20/10 anymore, but I can still see the and read street signs. Worth every penny. My left eye came out about 20/40, so they did an enhancement to clean it up, and I came out 20/10.

Best Money I've ever spent

I looked into it but apparently my corneas are two thin for the procedure.

I have never met a person that regretted the decision to get lasik

I did it a year ago and I'm not sure I would do it again. My eyes are dry all the time and while vision in one eye is perfect now, my vision in the other eye is a little off. Also the "starburst" effect from lights is significant. I think I just ended up in the unlucky ~5% who didn't get great results.
The procedure itself is easy though. As mentioned they give you drugs and you just sleep it off for a day and then you're good to go.

Maybe best money ever spent. 26 yrs of no glasses needed.

I’m not sure any insurance covers it as it is 100% elective. I don’t think it’s gone down in cost either as I got a consultation on it a few years ago and it was around $2k per eye. I got a quote 20ish years ago that was $2k total.
I’m getting it done next year and using my FSA. Everyone I know that has gotten it swear by it, especially their vision at night. I have lost almost all depth perception at night with contacts and glasses.

Had it done 6 years ago.
10yrs and counting. I need readers much earlier than normal (this was a stated side effect prior to surgery), and I have no regrets whatsoever. I'll take needing glasses to read over needing them for 100% of things I do every single time

$2k to do both eyes about 7 years ago and its the best money I’ve spent. Insurance did not pay a dime for it though.
Surgery was quick and easy, but once the anesthetic eye drops wear off, your eyes get really itchy. They prescribed me Ambien to get filled prior to the surgery so I could go home and sleep the rest of the day. Next day, I felt completely fine and had great vision. Only limitations were to avoid rubbing your eyes or going swimming for a few weeks

Is 58 too old for it?
They wont do it on you...I'm sure if you shop around enough some guy in a dark alley might do it but no reputable eye dr will.......especially if you have cataract
