Been wearing contacts for about 25 years with pretty god awful eyesight -7.50 and -6.50) now as I get older my eyes start to dry out all the time and constantly putting drops in as well I find myself wearing glasses more often just to not deal with the discomfort and the drops Never had this problem until last year . Also debating lasik, although I’ve had Optometrists tell me I would have chronic dry eye after the procedure , which would put me in the same place I’m already in
Do you wear daily or monthly contacts? I’m not as bad off as you (-4.25), but have been wearing contacts for 24 years. I started having the same drying out problem with monthly’s back in the spring for the first time ever. Moved to daily’s in the summer and have no problems anymore.
I had a lasik procedure pop up on Tik Tok and it kind of freaked me out, so I’m tabling that option for awhile.

I was thinking about it myself. How long does it last and how much does it cost? Seems everyone likes it
Edit: looks like anywhere from $1,000-10.000. Thanks google good job
Also it says only 10-12% need enhancement surgery later. That's good at least

Had Lasik in 2000. Perfect vision ever since. Best money I’ve ever spent.

Had Lasik a little over 10 years ago and thank God everyday I had it done.

I had Terrible vision with a wicked astigmatism when I had it done.
Still have 20/20 17 years later.
Don’t cheap out.

Not according to my ophthalmologist who wears glasses.

Wait to pull the trigger until you can get you one of those "one eye free" coupons.
Eye surgery is not where I recommend you go coupon clipping, but that’s just me.
I had mine 17 yrs ago and it was totally worth it.

Monthly’s.
Never sleep in them.
Change them probably every 3 weeks or so once they start feeling like they need to be changed

I had a co-worker, at barely 30, got LASIK and was on 5-10 applications of eye drops in a work day because they were so dry.
Have you tried switching to daily contact brands and using allergy drops? You may be treating symptoms and not the problem.
If you decide to do it, are you *really* going to let $600 one way or another decides what happens with your EYES? Hell noes.

That's not really good enough. You don't "feel" infection until there's a problem.
1. How often are you changing lens fluid in the contact cases?
2. Are you washing your hands (I don't want to know, just telling you to consider it) prior to pulling a contact out of your eye or out of the case?
3. How often do you change contact cases?

Yes.
I had it done 18 years ago. Still close to 20/20 but my close up vision at night is starting to suck.
May look into it again to see if I’m I candidate for further correction.

Where do you live? Stay away from Brousard. He made it right on case.

I had lasik back about 15 years ago with zero regrets.
Posted on 11/21/22 at 6:46 pm to mwlewis
Absolutely.
Did mine 19 years ago and still have 20/20 vision.

there is no such thing as enhancement surgery later
they can only shave down your eye lens one time and thats it. the enhancement needed later is their fancy way of saying going back to wearing glasses.
you only get one shot at laser correction, after that the lens must be replaced (like with cateract surgerys) or you get glasses

Yes! Best money I’ve ever spent. Lasted nearly 20 years for me.
