We work more than any other 1st world country, and spend less time with our loved ones.
Is this one of the issues with kids shooting schools? Parental neglect, with parents being at work too much?
Should we as a country change our culture to view more time with family in higher regard to more time at work?

Okay im a deep red Republican, but that is ridiculous.
People are working longer due to low and flat wages.

Nah... we need to step it up. Bring back the 100 work week. People have too much time on they're hands and think of ways to be offended.

I have no problem with private companies mandating it for their own employees, but as far as the government telling them to do it frick that shite. This isn’t Scandinavia

Yes, I think the U.S. has an archaic system when it comes to what is considered normal work hours.
Go to countries in Europe and people are usually amazed at how many hours the average American puts in at the office.
Also, I like that the norm in many European countries is to have a couple beers at lunch, whereas many American employers would frown upon this.

Been there, 100 hours a week for 6 months.
Do not do this.

American work ethic is one of the reasons we are the superpower of the world.

American work ethic is doing 2 or 3 hours of work in an 8 hour day.

of course it is
the 40 hour work week is all but obsolete these days for most professional jobs
I guarantee the vast majority of people could fit what they do in 40 hours in 32 hours
I know I could

It's a joke. The OP said in another thread that he wanted to slash the DOD budget by half to fund mental health care.

I could do mine in 30, and I don't work in an office.

Males not being surrounded by adult make role models in their formative years is massively hurting today's young men.
My dad worked a lot when I was growing up, all my teachers were female, and my mother and sister were basically who raised me. It has had a huge affect on me, and I'm just now really overcoming it.

No I didn't. I said a small percentage of the budget could be used to fund that and the VA.

What do you do for a living? How much does your employer MAKE YOU work?
Posted on 3/20/18 at 9:33 am to magildachunks
So the government will mandate that private companies reduce work hours?

As long as it takes me to finish my work for the day.
Some days I'm off at 2, some I'm off at 6.
But its at my pace.

I truly don’t think we’re far from a worker’s revolution in this country. It’s gotten ridiculous. Cost of living has continued to go up and wages haven’t in almost 20 years. Groceries have gone up, housing up, rent up, insurance up, daycare dramatically up, basic necessities continue to rise
Something has to give soon. People can’t make it and when people struggle for too long, they start taking desperate measures
