As others have said, I don't want govt mandating it, but I think the whole corporate environment needs to change in the US.
Longer work hours do not make employees more productive.
People in the US put way too much importance into work and money, and way too little into free time and family.
That's something most of the world has right and we have wrong IMO.

The money is flowing up to the Top of the Food Chain with the people doing most of the work getting crushed with lower wages and less benefits.

If someone legitimately only works 40 hours in this country, that's pretty awesome.
The people who don't see their families are working 60-70 hours, not 40. And they won't be impacted by some FLSA workweek change unless the entire regime is changed (and it won't be).

Nope, not falling down this rabbit hole again. You make a claim with no evidence, I make a claim and you demand evidence. And when I say "well where's your evidence" you say something to the effect of "you're the one making a claim with no evidence so you prove that you're right and I'm wrong." Then evidence is presented and you move the goal posts entirely or claim that the evidence doesn't factor in XYZ so it's bullshite. And round and round we go.

I lived with my sister for about 3 months right when I started working. She's a teacher and she left about 7:15 every morning and was home by 4 at the latest everyday. She MAY have done 45 minutes of work at home a couple days a week. She gets the summer off, spring break, a week at Thanksgiving, 2 weeks at Christmas. I would say those are pretty good hours

Even shitty teachers have to do work outside of school hours. You're claim requires more than you just saying many don't. Sorry for calling out your BS.

I'm sure some teachers do work the 60 hour weeks they claim.
But so do most professionals. And most professionals who do that and get paid more went into more competitive fields and had to take our more debt to get better degrees from better schools to be competitive. And it's not like teachers were promised 80k. They knew the scenario at the outset.
None of that is to say teachers shouldn't get paid more. But the idea that they're getting screwed is silly.

Actually, I said good teachers work their arse off, while many teachers don't work their arse off. I never made the claim that shitty teachers don't work outside of school hours. It was in reference to the number of hours worked outside the classroom, not a denial of their existence. But nice try.

My wife is a teacher. Leaves at 6, home for five. Works 1-2 hours a night at home. Makes 55k or so.

I'd trade work hours with a teacher all day everyday. My industry works 6 days a week, closer to 7 during holidays and most of October through December. Work memorial day, labor day, July 4, Christmas Eve, and New year's Eve. Most days are 7-6 with paperwork to do when you get home. Add in driving time all day, which for me is 2.5-3 hours of just to and from my house, not counting in between accounts. There's no down season, no weeks off for holidays, no summer break, etc.
