re: Is Baton Rouge the worst SEC school city?

If Tuscaloosa were larger in size, it’d be a bigger shite hole. In relative terms, it’s a bigger shite hole. Baton Rouge just has more of the shittiest because it’s so big. You get shot just as fast and easy in Tuscaloosa as you would Baton Rouge.

You are reaching way too hard on this one

After 3 generations of LSU alumni, the family will send their kids elsewhere. Sadly, they are sending them to UGA. BR is just scary bad now.

South Carolina is generally a nice state to live in but Columbia is kinda a shithole.
Yeah Columbia is pretty comparable to BR in its shittyness with the added negative of the stadium not even being on campus.

As for your ranking of Starkville as a shite hole, I disagree. Starkville may be boring and small, but it’s definitely not a shite hole in so far as crime or trashyness. It’s actually quite nice. Very clean and crime free.
I agree with you. All of these people who are slamming Starkville could not have possibly been there in the past 10 years. The OP asked about ranking in terms of raising a family. In my opinion, Starkville is a great, safe place to raise a family.

Norman is about as plain and ugly as you can get
At least Baton Rouge you’re close to a lot of places.
Did someone say Fayetteville is the worst city? Lol

If you have to sell your city as a stopping point to go somewhere else it’s not a nice place.

It's Starkville for sure

For the purposes of this thread we are ranking the cities by best place to raise a family. Not the best place to be a college student.
I’m biased, but I’d rather raise a family in BR than College Station. Especially if I had SEC head coach money.
Same goes for Starkville. Can’t speak for Gainesville or Fayetteville as I’ve never been to either.

Fayetville is great but unfortunately, Arkansas is a terrible job for football. They should just concentrate on basketball and baseball.

Austin is riding on the history of the music scene and being kooky…. Now it’s festering democrat metropolis with homeless people running rampant.
Athens Ga should be high on list. It’s getting big, but overall is a nice, clean city. Downtown area is next to campus. Students can walk most places.

So many downvotes. Nice to see the Klan is out in force.

I haven't been to Gainesville since 2010 bit I remember it being a lot cleaner and safer than BR.

Crime wise? Yes. I wouldn't move my family to BR if I had other options.
if you can't afford to live in the nice areas crime could be an issue. I have lived in BR all my life and have never been a victim of crime or really known anyone that has.

Waiting on dudes who live in Gonzalez, Livingston Parish, and Broussard to call Austin and Nashville shitholes.

but the reality is that it doesn’t really affect anyone who lives in good areas
Did Allie Rice live in the ghetto? Was Siegen Lane considered ghetto before it turned that way? What about all the slums surrounding North campus? Tigerland? There were two shootings on campus less than a month ago on game day. Burnout takeovers of intersections at Acadian/Stanford and, more recently, on Highland the same weekend as the shootings. And car burglaries seem to be pretty commonplace in every neighborhood.
BR may not be NOLA East, southside Chicago or Detroit. But you are being absolutely dishonest by saying
quote:
the reality is that it doesn’t really affect anyone who lives in good areas,
The good areas are being surrounded by ghettos or turning ghetto. And the worst part is, the city show no signs of improvement or even a desire to improve. Sorry brother, but there isn't enough lipstick in the world to put on this pig to make it more attractive.
