Is anyone suggesting the COVID19 "uptick" as things open up was unexpected?

Was I wrong in assuming that was somehow an inherent part of the bargain here? Is there really anything happening now that was MORE than what was to be expected when they decided to start allowing people to do normal things more?

I thought that was part of the basic "science" of all this that we were being lead to actually expect?

It's all so confusing.

It’s fear mongering bs

These states are doing absolutely fine hospital-wise, which is all that matters

It would be an incredibly GOOD development if this puppy infects every single young soul below age of 45 or so and gives them antibodies

The “uptick” is reported by media outlets that criticized the reopenings. They would rather we all sit in our closet and die then go out and about and risk catching a virus that kills leas than 1% of people that contract it.

Everyone should have expected some uptick.

That being said, remember when warm weather was gonna make it disappear? Those were the days.

Expected the degree of uptick you see in states like Alabama or Tennessee: yes.

The degree in states like Texas, Florida and Arizona: no.

I'm at the beach in Florida, and I have been drinking. I can't tell what you are saying but I don't think I have ever used "more" twice in the same sentence.

At this point we pretty much just have to let it run its course unfortunately

Nothing is stopping it and we can't stomach a full shut down again considering that most places haven't fully reopened as it is

It does read a bit odd, upon re-reading. Thanks for the constructive stylistic critique.

I expected an uptick. Hell, I've been saying it for 2 months.

Everyone should have realized that at the beginning. In the urban areas, no one is getting past this until at least 20 to 25% of the population gets infected. The ones that got hit hard seem to be getting past it. In rural areas it doesn't seem to be much of a factor outside of the meat plants, etc. Look at Sweden's death figures recently. They seem to have made the right call and are about past this.

lets not ponder for one second if the upticks is in part due to bad data collection.

That wasn't a full shutdown - we kind of half assed it. Hard shut down for a short period of time would have been much better in the long run than what we did IMO.

You can’t watch CNN and improve their ratings if you’re outside living your life

But we can handle it. We have all the medical equipment, protective gear, and hospital capacity now. People are still acting like the shutdown was to end the virus without anyone getting it. It was designed to slow the spread so hospitals wouldn’t be overwhelmed. Hospitals aren’t going to be overwhelmed now. We have to plow through it and let it run its course.

Some folks are really too stupid and brainwashed to not understand that an increase after opening back up was inevitable.

At the end of the day, everyone, young and old will get it at some point.

Believe what? that a shorter, but more intense shutdown would have been better from both a healthcare and long term economic perspective?
