I heard on the news yesterday that they said the states that eliminated the inspection sticker had an increase in accident rates. I think it’s BS.

While true, you’re not going to see a state with a dwindling population do anything but look for more places to find revenue, not eliminate revenue. The more wealth leaves the worse it gets.

There was supposed to be verbiage in the bill that would have added a fee to all vehicle registrations to offset the loss of inspection sticker revenue for the state.
State Police supported that bill, Sheriff's Association didn't support it because a lot of departments make money giving out tickets for it.

Mississippi got rid of our inspection stickers about a decade ago
Mississippi is a much better ran state than Louisiana. By a wide margin.

Remember that there is a 30 day grace period AFTER the expiration itself.

So if you’re cheap, you can get 13 months out of an inspection sticker instead of 12. You save the cost of roughly 5 inspection stickers plus the time to get one over your lifetime of driving.

Im not real sure what the complantes are about? The stickers are there so they can tell which vehicles need to be on the road or not. Are a few of your tax dollars not worthy of going toward making you safe? Im sure you all would be the first to complane about a car hitting you without a sticker!

Don't care. I personally enacted bill LSUGrad9295:3b:1 a couple years ago. The bill simply states "I'm not paying that shite anymore".
Currently riding with a sticker that says 2/23.
Nb4: Stop breaking the law, a-hole

I agree. You see cars in Mexico all the time with gas cans for tanks on the roofs.

I got one at 745 in the morning pulling into the church parking lot with my family on a sunday in st gabriel. The cop pulled a mid-road lights blazing U turn like she was after a serial killer to come get me. Sticker was 34 days out of date. I still don't understand how she even saw it.
Wow. That’s pretty shitty.
I wasn’t exaggerating when I said I’ve been pulled over 4 times and not gotten one. Twice I actually got a speeding ticket but they said nothing about the expired inspection sticker (state troopers on the interstate). Twice I was let go with no ticket (BR cop), and those two times I didn’t even have an inspection sticker.
You’re always going to have outliers like your situation, but most of the time a 30+ year old normal dad driving a decent vehicle isn’t even pulled over much less given a ticket, and if they are they get let off with warnings often. An 18 year old any kind of driver gets pulled over and gets a ticket every single time. That’s more of the point I was making.

Its a money grab. Plain and simple. Do you live ANYWHERE in Louisiana? We have the most uninsured motorists in the country. You can look around at any time on any highway and find a clapped out bag of arse with something not working on it driving around. The Mexicans haul entire caravans of rolling garbage down the interstate every day. It doesn't do not one tiny little bit of a damned thing to keep fricked up vehicles off the road. Those pieces of shite are EVERYWHERE and NEVER pulled over.
By some kind of mysterious miracle, the people who don't look like they would pay the ticket don't get pulled over. The people who do look like they could, do.
This is the most fricked up backwards arse shitball of a crooked state that ever existed and anything that can be done to remove money from the pocket of the state needs to be done.

I’m a hell of a lot less worried about someone driving with a cracked windshield than I am about the massive number of people texting or fricking around on their phones while driving.

I have an old vehicle that won’t pass emissions and needs a new catalytic converter. Haven’t had a sticker on it for years. No ticket yet but I figure the fine will be less than the repair so I’m just gonna let it ride.
I actually got this ticket one time. I want to say it was about $250 in 2019 so you're probably not wrong

I am always going to get an inspection sticker. I want to make sure my car is sound enough to dodge the caravan of shitboxes tethered together going 45 on the interstate headed to Tejas
Posted on 4/29/25 at 8:57 am to Sweep Da Leg
They won't pay the ticket anyway, and likely are breaking a shitload of laws at any given moment so it's a pain in the arse to deal with them for no gain whatsoever. It costs the department money to pull them over. It makes them money to pull you over.

A state inspection won’t find anything you don’t already know about. Also those shitbox wreck caravans continue past Texas. I think they’re going to El Paso then Mexico. They all head west out of the metroplex and go on past Odessa anyway.

Id rather it be an insurance tag. Like go every 2 years and verify you have insurance.
Then impound all the people that dont have insurance.
Then make the insurance companies report those that get a policy and cancel within 5 days.
If were going to have it all, might as well make it like that.
