I thought federal government jobs didn’t pay well but offered good security and benefits. I guess that doesn’t apply to DC.

St George's County MD had quite a high crime rate for a while there despite being a rich black suburban county. Although supposedly the crime rate is falling there now.

My first hand experience outside of DC is that people get into those jobs as a career because they’re unfireable and the retirement is great. Oh, and deadlines are either non-existent or very soft. Low pressure stuff.

But you have to have enough runway for the retirement.

For the older generations that was the case, then the public sector started advocating that they were losing the best people because of pay. I used to be involved in creating public/private wage analysis reports. In most cases public paid a lot more.

More often than not, the moment that a black person gets wealthy they move into a white neighborhood
