Seem to think LA was the last holdout. Think there was a lawsuit, iirc.

there is no conscription. You volunteer for military service.
Therefore the issues aren’t related. Besides I Thought active duty could drink regardless. Just have to Present military ID.
US males are mandated by law to register with Selective Service at age 18. There currently isn’t a draft, but that could change and has in the past. Having a military ID under the age of 21 does not grant someone the right to drink under the age of 21.
Our age laws are some of the most archaic and random idiocy. You have to be at least 35 to be eligible to become POTUS. Go ahead and look at the Founder Father’s thread on this board and see how many of the actual authors of the Constitution would be eligible to be President.

Why do people associate July 4th to memorial day or Veterans Day
It’s not a military holiday
People need to study their history

Coincidence. Post was indeed made on July 4th but military connection not intended. This was a discussion recently had and unrelated to July 4th.

Speaking of ignorance, when’s the last time they enacted a draft? Young people have been making this argument for forever. It’s irrelevant. No ones getting drafted. “That could change”. Well when it does, you can come back and bitch about it some more.

Back in the day I got my driver’s license at 15 years old, no permit but a license.
Can't imagine giving a 15 year old a truck today.

And masquerading that actual facts are some young persons argument is juvenile at best. I served my country voluntarily, I have older family members and acquaintances that did not have a choice. Now kindly see yourself out.

They quietly changed the tobacco age from 18 to 21 during Covid.
Having different ages for different things but age of majority at 18 is ridiculous.
Smoking, drinking, voting, selective service, and adulthood should all be the same age- whatever that age may be.

Instead of lowering the drinking age to 18 because you can both vote and serve in the military at that age now, we should instead go back to the age of eligibility for voting and serving in the military to 21 like they use to be.
This, kids fresh out of left wing indoctrination camps (high school) should not be voting with basically zero work/life experience. Voting on feelings is what will end this great country. Looking at you white women and young white liberals

Major issue during Vietnam

The guy who assassinated the Duke of Austria to start WW1 did not get the death penalty because that was for people over 21

Not unless something has changed. I was stationed at Ft. Polk when Louisiana was still the only state with 18 drinking age. It was the opposite, I could buy alcohol off-post but not at the PX.
