Independence / freedom and 21yo drinking age in USA

Young American fellas / ladies can go to war to fight for their country
Vs
Adult beverage age
Reconcile these for me, please. It seems to me, if you can go to war for your country (compulsory), you should be able to drink as an adult.
Yet, not true! What gives?
In Europe they can. Why not USA?

Our “freedom” is an illusion

You can drink on base with a military ID at 18.

On base?
Shot dead while defending USA.
But cannot drink adult beverage at bowling alley before going to war for USA.
Makes good sense?

Back in the day I got my driver’s license at 15 years old, no permit but a license. Also, could buy a bottle of whiskey at 18 years old. Gone are the good old days.

Because politicians let a bunch of women, MADD, browbeat them into raising the age.

Until 1942, the minimum age to be drafted into the military was 21.
Until 1971, the minimum age to vote was 21.
Instead of lowering the drinking age to 18 because you can both vote and serve in the military at that age now, we should instead go back to the age of eligibility for voting and serving in the military to 21 like they use to be.

there is no conscription. You volunteer for military service. Therefore the issues aren’t related.
Besides I Thought active duty could drink regardless. Just have to
Present military ID.

It's not about logic or lack there of. It's because states who don't abide by the drinking age act would lose federal highway funding.
And as someone stated above. MADD drove up huge demands for something to change.

Same. Got my license at 15. Bought beer and Jager at the K&B in Summerfield in Houma. Went to Curly’s as a high school freshman and drank. Different times and different attitudes towards teen drinking.
It was glorious

Don’t let drinking and driving that resulted in killing people confuse!
Don’t drink and drive! That simple.
If you can go to war for USA, you should be able to drink.
You are not entitled to drink n drive. Don’t be a killer. Simple as that.
Not difficult. Don’t let it be.

That shite doesn’t matter. The renting a car at 25 thing without a fee is way more of a pain in the arse.

Are you a U.S. Military Veteran?

Sorry, too many distracted drivers as it is. Why allow 18-19 year olds the ability to buy alcohol then get behind the wheel?

No. Renting a car, renting a hotel, buying a hand gun are much better hills to die on than buying booze.
I may be dreaming this but does active duty military allow you to buy a hand gun at 18?
