Adults got a lot of sh!t on their minds. 18 vs 21 ain’t one of them.

Side note:
I’m old and could drink beer in most of Louisiana at 18

Well then as someone they defend by voluntarily signing up to defend us…it’s bullshite they can be overseas in harms way but they can’t buy a Miller Lite at the gas station.

I’m making it a topic related

It was 18 or 19 in most states up until the mid 80s.

MADD lobbied Congress to pass a bill that tied highway funds to having a 21 year drinking age. States compiled.

What gives?

Because kids are soft-headed at 18 and can’t be trusted to not drink and do stupid shite.

However, young kids make great infantrymen (according to the politicians)

Quite literally this. We just saw St. Tammany Sheriff lose his career being a drunk a-hole. He’s what, 52?

Just can’t trust the 18 year old doing what we all did at 18 and drink I guess bc they can’t possibly make good decisions

No. Just because your active duty at 18 doesn’t mean you can drink off base.

Because our government sucks.

I believe it was 18 before Jimmy Carter changed it to 21 but I could be wrong.

Can you drink on base? It was 21 to drink on base in the 1990's. When did change back to 18?

Sorry, too many distracted drivers as it is. Why allow 18-19 year olds the ability to buy alcohol then get behind the wheel?

House wives do it all the time. They go to a restaurant at lunch and have drinks for hours until it's time to go pick up the kids from school.

If the police were really serious about public safety and putting an end to drinking and driving, they would set up a check point at 230 as cars are leaving the school.

They won't because of the amount of shite they'd get for arresting well-to-do wives for dui and child endangerment.

I got my DL on my 15th birthday, and dad let me drive the car home. Meanwhile, starting as a freshman in HS, I was always sent in to buy the beer, because I had a moustache. They never asked for my ID. Now I get carded everywhere, despite my gray. Thanks MADD!

You can drink on base with a military ID at 18.

That hasn't been true for a while. Only overseas or if your base is located 50 miles from the Mexico or Canada border.
