gotta elaborate

I was a Junior in College. Back home due to Katrina. Taking classes locally and continuing to train for CC/Track which I did in college and would be continuing in spring.

Anyway, I had great relationship with HS football coach even though didn't play. He respected the hell out of my distance running. He had played in HS and was/is good buddies with my buddy's older brother. Lots of connections between us.

Anyway, somebody called and threatened his family. Apparently sounded like me and 2 friends one of which was a stud QB for him few years prior.

When cops called me I thought it was a prank. We went and talked to cops. They threatened to get my phone records. I offered them up and said could check computer too. I had nothing to hide.
They didn't accept. I told them I was done then. Told them if heard more shite I'd get my stepdads lawyer.

I feel bad. I didn't do it. Sad someone apparently did. My buddy's older brother still jokes with me about it.

Probably around 10 or so. All were good except for 2. One when I was high school I was rear ended at a red light by a black guy who was drunk. Ponchatoula city cop who is black and is now a lawyer let the guy go. Then about 10 years ago we roll up to our tailgate spot in the grass Between the soccer field and Tiger park. Now keep in mind there are tailgaters on either side of us. This fat rub of shite Marshall rolls up and tells us we have to move them ask me the truck to us belongs to. Tells us he is going to tow him ( it was the poster known as Rouge ).
Says if we aren’t moved when he comes back we are getting a ticket and getting towed. Now this is clearly free parking and we have a tailgate map to prove it. Dude was a dick. A few minutes later Jerry Stovall comes out of the softball stadium and we are bullshitting with him and tell him the story. He said we should have punched him in the throat, yeah good times.

None of them ever went badly, so to speak. The first time was a sheriff's deputy who knew my dad. My tail lights were out on my truck, so he followed me home to make sure no one rear-ended me.

I've gotten one ticket from AL & TN troopers each, though. Both were absolute dicks. No respect for them at all.

Maybe 7 and no more than 10. Some were assholes. Some were very reasonable.

Sort of like the population as a whole.

This has validity. I've had 2 that deserved arrest. One was a DUI. I was hammered but driving a car for people who were worse off than me. I was "sober" by comparison. I guess they didn't want to bother with 2 DUIs and a PI. If we were black? They'd have made the effort possibly.

Second, I at least had sense to not drive. BUT I started my car and took a snooze. Cops woke me up. Laughed at me. Congratulated me for ultimately not driving, Just making sure I wasn't dead. "Please tell me you dont have a warrant." I did not. I slept it off on my buddy's (who was now outside due to flashing lights) couch.

These were all during the stupidity of college FYI nothing recent.

Never had a circumstance that I didn't put myself in. Once in Port Barre i was confident that I wasn't going as fast as he said I was, I think he just stopped me for the tinted windows. I didn't argue either of them. He asked for my info and I told him I had a gun in the vehicle. He asked me why I had a gun in the vehicle. I told him because the Constitution said I could. He gave me a ticket for the tint and the speed. I argued neither. It was the only time that I've ever felt like the cop was a moron, he was obviously someones nephew.

a handful, all ok except one...

I got pulled over in st francisville and i didn't even realize he was flashing his lights and i didn't have a safe place to pull over right away. When i finally did the ginger cop said, i almost pulled a gun on you cause you wouldn't pull over...

I’ve been ambushed a couple of times through the years by the state collection agents / highway robbers. Maybe I just drew the bad ones but they seem very arrogant (much more so than city and SO). They seem to kinda get off on trying to intimidate people. I was not driving unsafely (as I suspect is like 99.9% of the trooper’s prey) the trooper just saw an opportunity to make the state a little bit more money from someone who is already working hard, paying taxes, and their own salary.

Anyway, I do support police and will stand shoulder to shoulder with them against these terrorists. But GOOD GRACIOUS, stop robbing the public with speeding ticket abuse! That has become like 90% of a troopers job.

So, no... Not a fan of troopers. Their uselessness seems to far outweigh their helpfulness. Stop writing tickets and let the SO’s take care of the parish.

Between Traffic Stops, getting detained for public intoxication, checkpoints and interactions on the water with game wardens. Probably 25-30, all of them went smooth

Honestly growing up in Metairie in the 80"s as a skater we had plenty of run ins with cops. I was a witness to a fight, and I called one of the guys a lair, and the cop told me he would "kick my nuts into your throat if you open you mouth again" I quickly shut up. The last time was about 5 months a go I got a speeding ticket. When I called to pay it the lady said the cop noted I was very polite, so she moved it to a non moving violation.

In Shreveport.. at Mardi Gras my fourth semester of college, the girl driving the vehicle I was riding in became nauseous right under the bridge, about 200 yards from our destination. I was the only other rider in the car who could drive a stick so I hopped in, got in the driver seat and before I could even shift into first I was arrested for DWI by a bicycle cop. I had drank 2 beers to this point but I was 20 years old. Total cost: over $5k. Truly one of the most disgusting humans I ever have encountered.

EDIT: I got a random down vote already. What bitc4 mot4er f5cker thinks the police officer that arrested me was doing the right thing? I was not impaired whatsoever. The DWI laws are well intended but this is just another example of bullshite with a bowtie.

After I got the DWI I worked at a local ISP for 4 months, collected CCNA and CCNP certifications and went on to be an instructor at Dyess Air Force base until 9/11 happened. Then I went back to school. Honestly my mistake was ever returning to this State.

EDIT2: Removed profanity laced string aimed at citizens that don't have the ability or have existing privileges which makes them not question the laws of this State. Removed stereotypes of said people.

Probably 10 or so for minor traffic violations.

I did have my concealed carry on me when pulled over once. That was an interesting stop. Told the officer that I had the firearm on me as soon as he walked up. He asked where and I told him (right hip) which made the whole unbuckle thing a bit difficult. He was chill, asked if he could hold the firearm while he did his paperwork. I complied (I was much younger and just thought it was the right thing to do). About 10 minutes later he asked if he could place the gun on the back floor (I was sitting in the driver's seat still). He gave me a warning, and thanked me for reporting the firearm. He only asked that I let him drive away before retrieving it.

2 dozen give or take, mostly as a teenager because they seemed to stop all teenagers in certain areas where they knew cocaine was being sold. This was in the Northeast. Never a real issue if I answered questions and was not a dick. A few buddies who tried to be wiseasses would get pinched and put in the car. When we were a little older it was usually drinking in public issue which was and still is illegal up there. The big mouths got arrested the respectful kids were dispersed. In Louisiana a cople times. once had my car impounded because I forgot to put the updated insurance card in my glove box. Ran a red light and got pulled over. Had to get a ride an pick my car up and pay a fine the next day.

Way too many to count. Just got a ticket for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign on my lunch break. While I was getting my ticket another cop was fricking with some guy riding his bike. Scott cops are out in full force trying to meet their quota.

plenty probably over 50

did a lot of illegal shite when young and in a small town. Got pulled over so many times just cause it was me and doing nothing wrong that would warrant a traffic stop.

Dealt with several a-hole cops. Never in any of those interactions was I disrespectful or resisted or gave them any reason to put me in jail.

Only once was i put in jail.

Probably about 10 in my lifetime. I was always respectful and cooperative and never copped an attitude. They are just doing their job which is to enforce the laws. Be honest - cops know when you are bullshitting them. Follow their instructions.
Got a few tickets and got let go multiple times.

Did these revenue generating tickets cause financial problems for you at any point? Like make you have to dip into savings or a credit card? Particularly nasty timing in the tickets for me. And like I mentioned in the insurance thread.. I've never filed a claim because I am a good driver.

Can't municipalities find a better method of revenue generation than tickets? If not. Defund. Easy fix.

A bunch, but the funnest time was when I was 19 and gave a friend/coworker who was black a ride home after work in the 80s.

It was around midnight on the weekend and he lived in the ghetto, so police see a white guy and a black guy riding together so they pulled us over and made us both get out of the car.

While the one cop was casually asking me questions I look over and see my friend with his hands on the car being shaken down. Then they ask how much money I have on me and if they can search my car, sure I had no problem with it. (neither one of us had anything) They found a plate and a cut straw under the back seat and told me people are doing coke in my car behind my back! No way, then told me I'm being naive when I said that can't be possible.
