In another generation will drinking be the new smoking?

Currently around 10% of the population smokes, down from probably 50% 30 years ago. Today half of adults do not consume alcohol.
Could be drunk driving issues, could be $9 IPA beers, could be marijuana, could be the decline in dating.
How low will the percentage of drinkers go?

Humans have been drinking alcohol since the dawn of civilization. It won’t go away like cigarettes have. Also, I think I saw that cigarettes are trending up again with the youth.

Two reasons I cut back drastically. I live in a rural area without uber. If I don't have a ride, I don't drink. I also don't really drink at restaurants anymore now that a pint of Michelob or miller lite is $7.

Don’t get me wrong, I drink, but drinking kind of blows. Hangovers suck arse. I’d so much rather eat an edible and wake up without a splitting headache and needing to shite

This right here.
I can get a can of 15 milligram Fre nicotine pouches for $4.99, 20 pouches vs $8 for a can of Red Seal that might last two days. The pouches last longer, cheaper, and like you said I don’t have to spit.

I’m surprised by that percentage, honestly. I quit drinking completely almost 2 years ago. Talking with a good bit of my friends and quite a few of them also have stopped. These are older millennial/xennials. I quit because I was tired of feeling like crap all of the time. I just wanted to start having a better quality of life and be more health conscious. Same with others I’ve talked to. But I would’ve guessed the number that still drink was higher than that.
