You kind of nailed the Midwest older Gen X crowd. Kids are mostly grown. Beers after work, beers in the driveway, beers on the golf course, beers in the winter, beers during the game, beers daily.
Weekday beers are probably around 5 or 6. Weekends you can double that, but by now we can all handle that and that's just getting a bit of fun on. Sloppy drunk is not a good look. If you can't hang out and socialize and keep it under control people don't want to be around you.

The problem there is that when every man is well over 200#, and most women have been raised in an environment full of men like that, they can pound beers, and it doesn't look good to outsiders. Sloppy is always bad. But the tolerance of Scots/Irish and Norwegians puts LA to shame.
But to be fair, the biggest drinkers I've been around are Asians (women included) that weigh sub 150. Drinking 7&7, drink for drink, while I'm drinking Asahi or Sapporo.
People will drink forever. People vape because they saw a billboard that triggered them. You have a beer, and it's... different.
