Non profit does not mean people aren't getting filthy rich.

I don’t do charity unless I can directly give to the person that’s in need. No middleman.

There are other non-profits out there that are worthy of your money and are better at maximizing funds than churches.

After learning about their high executive salaries some years ago, this is why I stopped giving to the United Way.
A friend's wife (no pics) is in the non-profit industry as a financial advisor on the fund raising side, it's big business.
Much bigger than I thought as far as employee compensation goes.
Sad, because we really like giving what we can to worthy causes.

Correct. In fact it simply means that people fleeced the company until there is no money left.

My favorite is when they justify some charity execs salary with the argument that “a guy in a regular for profit business with that job would be making that much”. Well then go work at a for profit business. It’s a charity you twat. You aren’t supposed to be taking in CEO level money off of donations.

You are going to the wrong church.

Sounds like you need to find another church that hasn't gotten away from God's plan for spending.

Not to mention, my pastor who I love by the way banks in $300,000 a year along with Church staff making more bank then me. I’m done donating
I’ve never really cared that much how much a pastor makes as long as he’s preaching the gospel and not being a Joel Osteen or Jesse Duplantis type. My family goes to a larger Baptist church in north Louisiana, I know our pastor makes a good living, but we also have a larger congregation than most so his salary doesn’t hurt the church that much. He’s also up front with the entire congregation about where the money is going. We do probably 10 missionary type trips a year plus all the other things like VBS and middle/high school trips. And i guarantee most of the money ends up in savings after all the salaries and extra stuff is paid for. Think last year we tithed almost $2million.
However, we used to go to a smaller baptist church and my dad was a deacon, he also did daytrading back when it was going really good. Well the pastor was this sweet old man who had known my dad since he was a child. He would ask my dad about investing advice from time to time and if he could come by and maybe see what my dad could do for him. Of course my dad said “absolutely cmon Brother Bill.”
He’d always back out at the last minute and say something like “ya know Chris I just don’t feel comfortable as a pastor making more than what I do now. I feel like it would look poorly if I made a bunch of money compared to my congregation.”
That guy was a helluva man.

The VAST majority of "charities" are money-making SCAMS.
And, this includes some of the biggest, like the American Red Cross.
Wounded Warrior Project fits that mold as well.

I donate to non profit charities every year but yet, they are always out of supplies, out of money, or my Church does a damn expansion with 60” wide TVs and shite. Catholic church has a lot of problems, and no doubt at the higher levels there is wasted money and extras, but not at the parish level. We are constantly having trouble paying the bills, paying for needed repairs, etc, because the priest gives all the money away to those who are in need.

Find a new church then
There are plenty of churches, and plenty of large churches, where this doesn't happen.

Start your own church, it's an awesome business model.

Dang. It's almost like an organization that relies on donations and grants to provide free services to poor and under served people and don't charge for them need more donations over time. Who would've thought?

I hate charity drives at work where the company or Vp/partner/etc doesn’t match.
I’ll donate on my own.

Hey, they could be like the Catholics and use the money for molestation settlements.

My favorite is the churches that require you to provide them with your tax returns, so that they can make sure you provide your 10% tithe.
I don't know if that is still done or allowed, but it was big with the mega churches in Louisiana before Katrina.

Pay attention to the next American Red Cross commercial that occurs right after some sort of natural disaster and notice the subtle SCAM word-play for yourself.
Several years ago I visited the RC office in DC. Like a palace. Never given them a thought after that
