quote:

AUSTIN, Tex. — My name is Neal, and I’m a marijuana addict.

A year ago I wouldn’t have said that, because it would have meant giving up marijuana. I would rather have given up breathing.

When I had my first cup of coffee in the morning, I pressed the little button on my vape pen, waited for the blue glow, took a huge inhale and then blew it into the mug so that I could suck in the THC and caffeine at the same time. Then I took another hit, and another. In the afternoons, I’d smoke a bowl, or pop a gummy bear, or both. At night, I got high before eating dinner or watching the ballgame. Maybe I’d stop getting stoned a little bit before bed, but what was the point? If I went to bed high, I could wake up high, too.

quote:

Like most pot addicts in denial, I spent years telling myself that marijuana isn’t addictive, and so I didn’t have a problem. But clearly I did. And I’m not the only one who suffers this way.

I support legalization in principle because I support freedom

But the idea that more people getting high is a good thing is dumb

Same as more people getting drunk more often is not a good thing

I can appreciate both sides of the argument, but it sounds like the guy referenced in the OP would just be a fricking loser regardless.

There's a difference between physical addiction and mental addiction.

Heroin causes a physical addiction.

Pot can be a mental addiction. Same with Little Debbie cakes or Zapp's chips.

We should not outlaw things just because a few people can't control themselves.

Nothing more than some bullshite this guy came up with to get out of something with his wife and/or employer. Marijuana “addiction” is a farce.

He wasn't addicted. He was dependent. And yes, to answer the author, there is a difference. A massive difference.

Ask all the people that have tried to quit real addictions how easy it was.

Agree. But this board is to the point where if you say anything negative about weed you are downvoted into oblivion. Some folks here think weed is completely harmless and might even cure AIDS and cancer.

Expect this article to be scrubbed from the internet soon. Pot is super healthy and unaddictable and anyone who says otherwise is a loon.

I see (and experience) both sides. If I have any I'm going to be high until it's all gone. If I don't have any I don't think about it for weeks/months at a time.

I had to stop smoking pot after college for my post grad job. That was a breeze compared to when I decided to quit dipping.
