Yeah my MIL has mouth cancer and never smoked anything a day in her life. If you feel like trying to risk manage all your life, go for it.

That’s kind of like having a few adult beverages before you drive so that you’re more relaxed.

It probably does. There are far worse habits than cigars. I was having a glass of scotch every night for a while(which probably was hurting my wallet more than my liver). I would not worry too much about it.

I recommend not smoking or using tobacco. I also lost a good friend recently to lung cancer. Just my plea to folks to avoid tobacco.
Just like anything in life, it's best enjoyed in moderation.
A cigar before a fall football game. (6/yr total).
Cigar to celebrate the birth of a child.
These won't give you cancer.

Smoking one every day or several times a week, these cause a potential issue.

Sorry to hear about your friend and grandfather.

just generic brands, Perdomo

There is noting at all wrong with a Perdomo. Their sun grown line is a fine, long smoke. It is one of my regular go-tos.

A truly wonderful stick. Love them.

I smoked a pack of cigs a day for 10 years. Quit cold turkey, jonesed over the cigs for over a year, then smoked a Hoya de Monterrey Excalibur #3. Did not inhale. That was nearly 20 years ago. Have had no desire for a cig since that moment. Used to smoke a couple of cigars a week, now it's more like one or two a month, but it's hard to beat a good cigar, a nice whiskey, and peaceful quiet on the patio.

Padron's are good, so are Ghurka, Hoya de Monterrey, Punch and AVO. There are lots of good cigars out there. Get to know the guys at your local cigar shop and they's let you know when when one of the big brands sends them unlabled seconds for 1/3 the price. You'll get one that doesn't draw right now and then, but most will do just fine.

Don't be snobby about Backwoods and 1882s either, they aren't bad smokes and sometimes you only have 15-20 minutes.

A non smoker has roughly a 6% chance of developing lung cancer in their life

Someone that smokes cigarettes DAILY has a 15% chance

Yes it’s double the risk, but when I read and interpret those numbers it doesn’t actually make tobacco seem all that risky

Fair enough, but what about all the other tobacco-related ailments?

That said, not against occasional cigar use, just not for me. I quit smoking cigars because I eventually concluded I enjoyed collecting and managing a small cigar assortment more than I did smoking them, and that was stupid.

It’s estimated 20% of cancer is caused by smoking, 80% not linked to it

Im not saying it’s good for you, it clearly isn’t. But I really do think people overall overestimate the risk of tobacco

A buddy of mine that lived in Los Angeles and considers himself a bit of a weed connoisseur...gave him an Alec Bradley Prensado and he had to lie down before he was done.

Nub is a good, long lasting, stocky, short cigar brand.
So you don't have to cut a cigar down. Please don't do that.

I have found that I like Nicaragua the best. Every has their own preferences, e.g. blondes, brunettes, red heads.

Drew estate. Olivia. Aj Fernandez.
Jamie Garcia. Rocky Patel. Tatuaje.
All are terrific! Enjoy the journey.

Real men smoke pipes and cigars.

Nicotine addicts smoke cigarettes or vape.

There is nothing generic, certainly not the pricing, about Perdomo or Mac. I love'em, don't get me wrong, but Perdomo, Macanudo, and the others mentioned in this thread are premium.

There are more inhalers in this one thread than I've spoken to in my 25 years of enjoying cigars as a pursuit (lots of internet conversations) and a hobby. And, I've herfed with some hardcore dudes.
