Cigarettes do carry higher risk than cigars. Also moderate cigar smoking is believed to not carry any higher cancer risks than regular wine drinkers face.I'm talking 1 cigar/day or less. And yet all the soccer moms are smashing wine on a daily basis like it's good for them.

Plus a lot of those “studies” don’t parse out cigar only users from cigar&cigarette users, which isn’t an uncommon scenario.
But fwiw I rarely smoke 1/day more like 3-4/ week more or less.

Inhale into your palate or into your lungs?

This post from another site, sums up my feelings, without typing it all out

quote:

Folks, I've smoked cigars for 40 years. Yes, I also inhale them. I'm not sure what all the kerfuffle is on this topic. You can do all the "enjoying" as described, and also "enjoy" the inhale, as I do. I inhale my pipes as well, been doing that for the same time period. If your goal is to get mouth, throat, etc. cancer.. Just puff. If you want to avoid cancer, stay clear of tobacco in all forms! Inhale, don't, not sure what the issue is. Do what makes you happy!

It is commonly known, that tobacco companies (cigerettes) add chemicals.

Yeah that’s the point of my post.

Anybody know what Hannibal was puffing on during episodes of The A Team?

I’ve always thought these would have been a nice smoke.

Peppard was knockin down 3-4 packs a day when he was doing The A Team. Bit it in his mid 60’s from lung cancer.

To each their own, but I'm swallowing some good tasting wine. Same with a cigar. I want the smoke to coat my palate, enter my lungs, and enjoy the exhale.

We’re not sure if it’s going to work or not, we’ve only been on the air for 32 years.

I don't smoke anything fancy, just generic brands, Perdomo, Punch and Macanudos(only when I run out of everything else). Any advice on better more smoothe brands?

The more cigars you smoke the stronger you'll start to prefer them. I don't smoke as many as I used to but I'm a fan of La Flor Dominicana

Oliva makes some pretty good mild stuff

Biggest thing I can say is buy local. One of the more depressing parts of my old job was seeing just how bad off a lot of the local cigar places are due to online companies not charging excise tax due to not having "nexus".

Looks like a lancero type cigar. Lancero cigars can be misleading due to their “smaller look” but most are pretty strong considering the wrapper leaf to filler leaf ratio is much higher than say a robusto etc.

OP- try something from Oscar. My go to right now is the Oscar leaf Sumatra. Great smoke at a really good price point

Absolutely right. There are actually no studies confirming harm for moderate to low-frequency cigar smokers. I probably average 3-4 a/week myself.

Great athletes who competed indulged in cigars. Take MJ, Arnold, Babe Ruth. MJ started to smoke cigars after his 1st championship and would smoke a cigar before his home games in Chicago.

I gave up my collection during a mid-life crisis. Don’t regret it at all.

Oliva, Garcia & Garcia, CAO, Monticrisco, and Rocky Patel are a few of my go-to’s. Cohiba is overrated, IMO. My best recommendation is to buy a sampler to fine tune the type of wrapper and the tones of the cigar you prefer.

Just my plea to folks to avoid tobacco.

Good advice I worked with a guy with same type of cancer and the docs had to carve him up to try and stop it. In the end he was a pitiful site. Also if that plea doesn’t work I would suggest someone that uses tobacco go down to a hospital specializing in oncology and walk those halls just a little bit. Yeah Yeah I know you had a grandpa that lived to be a 100 and smoked everyday and didn’t get cancer. Ive had my own cancer scare and when you are laying in that PET scan machine for about an hour you have plenty of time to think about what you might do different.

Except wine has some heath benefits and likley not lead to oral and lung cancer like cigars.

Try a good tobacco pipe with a quality English blend. Might I suggest some Maltese Falcon or Plum Pudding?

I use to ask my dad to smoke his pipe because I loved the smell of it as a kid. Definitely something I'd be interested to get in.
