I still don’t understand how you get a buzz from cigars if you don’t inhale.

For a smaller cigar with a load of flavor, try Nub from Cain Cigars. I go through a box/month

Don’t cut your cigars in half. Buy smaller cigars. Get some Punch London Clubs. There’s a good cigar thread on the FDB.

This. Try Rocky Patel petite corona

+1

I tell others that it isn't so much what I HAVE smoked, as much as it is what I HAVEN'T smoked. Even the most hardcore aficionados haven't smoked them all.

For anyone beginning their cigar journey, Thompson Cigar will send out a catalog with lots of information, including strength / flavor profiles. Can be helpful for those overwhelmed by all of the options out there.

Nicotine triggers the release of several neurotransmitters in the brain, notably dopamine, which stimulates a sense of pleasure and well-being. Essentially, this relaxed state is the “buzz” in a cigar.

It has been stated here but you should try out Drew Estate, Rocky Patel, Nub. Try as many brands as you can, don't be turned off by price or country, some of the best cigars you will find will not be expensive. With that said, don't force yourself to enjoy a cigar if you don't like it, if you don't like it, throw it out.

Invest in a humidor and allow your cigars to "rest" before you smoke, 2-3 weeks minimum I find, but it is all personal preference. Buy a larger humidor than you think you will ever need and you will soon find you will be buying another too.

I like Ashton VSG and AF Hemmingways. Generally prefer Torpedos or Churchills.

We're 4 pages in and I'm shocked no one has posted this...

It’s estimated 20% of cancer is caused by smoking, 80% not linked to it

Current CDC data indicate 40% of “all” cancer is tobacco related, if you break it down further to specific types of cancers like oral, lung, and esophageal, the percentage goes way up. Cigar smokers have significantly higher occurrence of esophageal cancer.

Could be worse. You could be addicted to strip clubs.

I cut 1/3 of a cigar with a cigar cutter.

Wait, so you take a cigar cutter and cut your cigars into thirds? Doesn't this mess with the wrapper and cause it to become an unraveled mess? Why not just smoke a third of it and let it go out then save the rest for another time?

Thank you for the thoughts. Grandpa lived to 83. Friend not so much. I always just feel a calling to relate a personal experience especially with all the young folks who may consider smoking. Best wishes all!

I like acids and rocky patels 12 years off the shelf, street tacos are also a good smoke if you can find them. My favorite, puros de hostos, can only be ordered online. I’m partial to a pairing with a very old Armagnac.
