So I did some more digging, not only is the technology not ready, the laws probably won't allow for it...it appears you cannot sue a truck manufacturer if you're involved in a wreck with an 18-wheeler, today you sue either the driver or the trucking company but if you get in a wreck with a fully automated rig you can only sue the trucking company...it seems trucking companies aren't too keen on the idea of being sued so they're not likely to adopt automated trucks without a change in the law. As we all know, getting a law this big changed probably won't happen without several years fighting it out in courts

Cars really haven't evolved that much since '69. Yeah, they're a little faster and have better fuel economy but they're basically the same as they were 50 years ago.

All I know, there are no self driving trucks on the road today and won't be until at least January of 2069
