I watched a little documentary on winter in the middle ages the other night, and apparently they brought them inside a lot.

Not just for the animals, but because the animals also gave off extra body heat to keep the people warm too.

Imagine the smell.

This. A Husky might be right as rain in the elements. But even a Lab would probably need some sort of shelter to keep the rain and elements at bay. Doesn't have to be heated. Just appropriately sized, a bit of straw, and keep the rain/wind out.

Odd that you have more compassion for animal comfort versus human life.

What were they bred with to become inside animals?

Maybe I need to use different words. Where did the pussy gene come from and why would any human want to genetically alter an animal that way?

It always amazes me how animal nuts care more about an animals life than a humans life. Then clowns like the OP say shite like this.

I'm curious if people who live up north freak out about pets and cold weather constantly or if it's mainly southerners who think 30 degree temps is the end of the world.

People who say cruel things like this all because of animals are usually some of the worst people in society, ironically.

They’re selfish and don’t understand the value of human life, and so they value animals over other human beings’ lives. It’s only a hop, skip, and a jump from this mindset to a Nazi or Communist mindset.

They don’t but they’ll complain when schools close for cold temps when as a kid they still had to go to school.

Shoot, I moved her den bed ( as opposed to her bedroom bed) a little closer to the fireplace when the indoor temp got below 70.

Mine have a Dogloo stuffed with fresh hay. They are happy down to freezing temps. You can stick your hand in there after they've been in there a few minutes and its freaking warm.

Anything colder than freezing they get to come inside and stay in a wire kennel like this.

They are English Setters which are hairy hunting dogs. They seem to enjoy winter more than summer even though I shave them during the hot months.

OP takes the high ground on pet care, only do wish death if you don't cooperate.

Reminds me of a car I once saw with two bumper stickers.

The one on the left side of the bumper said, "A touch of class."

The one on the right side of the bumper said, "Eat shite."

There are little dogs that were designed to be little wandering indoor security alarms before we had electricity. Even some working breeds were bred to be small to also be a companion animal at night. Some breeds were adapted better for hotter environments and don't do well in cold. We have been playing genetic scientist with dog DNA for like 10000 years and making all kinds of breeds that do all sorts of shite. Lately we have been playing with their genes to make mostly companion animals to sell for money and stopped giving a damn about how they survive in the wild. Some of them still have the ability to survive in extreme cold even through the night, others will die if you leave them out there. Decent owners should know which ones can take it.

I lived in Alaska and knew sled dog breeders. They still at least provided basic shelter to their dogs if they wanted out of the weather. Dogs can't really make a den for themselves like foxes and wolves when we control their environment and movement. It's simple don't be a piece of crap to your animals. It doesn't have to be inside your home if the dog is made for that type of environment, it can just be regular domestic animal shelter.
