Must of us older people grew up in an era that pushing your politics in a setting like that is socially unacceptable.

I agree. I went to a graduation last week the and the female valedictorian
spoke of how proud she was of her white ancestors that built our great
Nation and how as a descendant she hoped she could continue
to make America a great Nation.
She got a standing ovation.

If someone finishes #1 in their class after 4 years of work, they deserve a chance to speak their mind. Even if you disagree with the message.
