They normally let people go on a Friday, typically the last day of a pay period. This is to avoid partial paydays and "incidents".

Old, well-established company? Yeah, folks stay in business all the time by firing the best folks and keeping the worst ones. Ironic, in a way.

Type resume now.

At your exit interview be pleasant. You need references.

Oh so you are one of "those" people. The "I never have used my sick time" people. Newsflash....everyone else in your office secretly doesn't like you. People sometimes get sick. Their kids get sick and they have to stay home to care for them. Their parents get put in the hospital and they have to help out. That is what sick days are for.
Not really one of “those people”, I’m just always at the clients beck and call. If I’m building your house and trying to meet deadlines and keep things rolling as your GC, you’ll never get a sick day out of me. And yes I take pride in that. There’s a lot of shitty home builders out there that love using those excuses. Not me.

It's not possible to both be one of the best employees and get your third strike. Best employees don't get strikes.

I'm good for 6-10 sick days a year. 2-4 of those may actually be 'sick of work' and planned.

I've been laid off once and narrowly missed it at another company

1. A startup telecom filed chapter 7 liquidation. 200 employees received emails notifying them they do not have jobs. I worked in the Network Operations Center. The final action we took that night was to forward the company's toll free number to the CEO's home number.

Install a few annoyatrons in the building. Spritz your enemies chairs and carpet with deer urine lure. Order the sugarless yummy bears and give as parting gift. They bring on explosive diarrhea due to the sugar substitute.

Look up the reviews on Amazon on these candies. Totally legal and safe to say but the end result is anally explosive.

I sound evil but have never done these things. It just amused me to create such ridiculous ideas, diverts my anger and then I am laughing to hard to be mad.

I'e never had a private sector job, but if I did and got t fired, well before killing myself in shame for being fired, I'd definitely top shelf their toilet.
