if you're on the "three strikes" system, AKA the "next to last chance" and "last chance" system, you're not one of the "best workers". They're watching your arse and documenting everything for your dismissal.

I as in the Army, joined at 17 retired at 43.
43 is a great age to retire at, I highly recommend it.

Armed services is very different than civilian bureaucracies. I also edited my post immediately because I realized it was an asinine comment, especially day after Veterans' Day.
ETA: my wife works for govt, will retire at 47ish I think. I am very jealous
