That isn't controversial. You are not getting fired for the lack of a Dr. excuse for missing work. You are getting fired for all the time you missed prior to this. As a manager I much rather a employee that shows up everyday and I can depend on to be there when I need them even though they might be a average performer. Than someone who is top notch and is sketchy and may or may not show up for work.

Does the company have a policy in writing that says you must have a doctor’s note for any time off for illness? Were you given a copy of this policy? If so, well, you picked a stupid place to work for. Companies that have no respect for others needs are not worth working for.

I’ve noticed that even excised is starting to be penalized in so HR systems. I’ve been around a few lately where it’s points/tiered (ex: 3 points verbal warning, 6 written 9 final 10 term) and even an excused with note and proper notice is a point while various late calls or without note are 2-3.

Seems real lame to ding someone that’s gone to the doctor and called the requested number of hours before their shift. Figured it was an outlier but have seen it several times (never subject to it though)

This is what we have. I’m in a supv position so I’m supposed to track it but I’ve been kinda lax about it. I had an early team meeting and said that I’d prefer we handling everything internally. Unfortunately, that leaves me in a bid because when we have someone that just can’t get to work on time regularly, I’m behind with HR when I want to do something about it. The employees require that kind of system because in my experience, if you go easy on stuff like that, some people can’t or won’t keep their endnof the bargain. It’s frustrating.

Nothing. If you piss off your employer enough they can screw you and say that you quit and then you getting a severance or that you were fired for cause.

I knew I was getting let go of my last job and told everyone and then when they all went out to lunch without me I knew. I’m in the job wasn’t really worth fighting for is what it comes down to

If your let go, go out in a shower of gratitude and masturbate all over that place, until they find a security guard or lawman willing enough to restrain you.

That'd be the ticket Daddio.

It would depend on the job, obviously. But, if I were absolutely sure I was being canned without another job lined up, I'd pull a muscle lifting a water bottle or something, and I'd give them notice of my Workers Comp claim before they could notify me about my termination. Hypothetically.

I can't say much other than DO NOT sign any termination papers until you fully and completely understand what is in the document you are signing.

Ask them if you take it with and so you read it thoroughly. I would take it the your local labor department and have them read through it and get their opinion.

They can get on stuff like 'non-compete' if you are not careful.

Trust no one, even if they act like they are your 'friend' or trying to act like they are sympthic. Too many people have been burned.

And depending on the level type job it was, get a local employment lawyers advice.

You are most likely going to be in a highly negative state so say nothing and walk out with your head held high and a big smile on your face.
