I think I'll manage just like all of the other rich people.
But no, I will not be summering in Ciudad Juarez.

I'd move to Montanta where there are no souls for miles and miles. Build a house with a bowling alley. Wouldn't need much else.
ETA - My new compound would be encircled by a moat that is filled with sharks equipped with lasers.

my private security detail would protect me and my family

well that isn't exactly fair
if you win, you are not going to instantly have a security detail or a gated compound like most billionaires
you will be vulnerable in the beginning
and I would think that many people would feel that a regular person would be an easier target than a long time billionaire

No because I wouldn't be stupid enough to pick of the money myself. Hire a law firm to take care of the matter and remain anonymous.

I'm single with no children and can move in an instant...
Which is exactly what I would do if I won. I would get away for at least 6 months.

Yes, I would hire bodyguards who would then probably conspire to off me.

I have heard that the first thing to do is change your phone number and move as quickly as possible. Stay as anonymous as possible.
The beggars come out of the wood work and frivolous law suits start to be filed ( you hit my car, I fell in your home, anything they can think of ).
Like someone else said there are a lot of crazies and just plain dirt bags out there.

You could move to a big city. No one would know who you are. Society today is all about what's trending or the next big event/controversy.
You will be talked about for a couple of weeks and then some horrible shite will happen and no on will remember who you are

I'm more worried about a crackhead trying to attack my wife to steal the diamond off of her finger right now than some elaborate kidnapping/ransom situation for my money if I were to win the lottery. There are still ton's of people who have more money than me. Why would I be a prime target.
Now friends and family asking for money along with all the other beggars.....that might get annoying. But good thing I was born a big enough a-hole to not give a shite about saying eff off. Bring on the winnings

There are six states that allow a lottery winner to remain anonymous: Kansas, Maryland, Delaware, Michigan, North Dakota and Ohio. Every other state requires a lottery winner to be announced publically, and many of those states prohibit the use of third parties to claim a prize.

I would probably hate more people than actually fear them.

You really want be that vulnerable if you keep your mouth shut. The folks who tell their family, friends or coworkers are pretty stupid imo. They step themselves up to have people ask them for money.

That's not entirely true. The Iraq citizen who recently won $2M from the Oregon lottery remained anonymous.
Also, I'm fairly certain their is a loophole when it comes to letting someone else collect the money.

but yes, if I won the lottery, I would probably move to a very isolated area with lots of acreage and keep a low profile for awhile
You either have to do that or you have to move to a very rich area where no one knows you and doesn't need your money anyway.
Especially if you live in a small town where you know everyone.
I'd move immediately.
