In SC, you can remain anonymous.
So, no.
So, no.

You really think people are going to be following you around trying to wreck into you? Lol.
Yall are some paranoid people.

That might get you out of having to do some media session and a formal announcement, but there is no chance of keeping a lid on this with co-workers and relatives on facebook.

I would hire a Tony Montana hit squad. Fix that shite.

They can wreck into me all day long.
If it's my fault, that's what insurance is for. Whiplash doesn't suddenly become worth 10 million.

Avoiding the media announcement would be good enough for me. My family wouldn't be an issue.

Seriously. I get hit by them and they are going to sue me to hell?
Are they forgetting I'm the one with the money?

Hahaha, I never play the lottery, like ever, unless the jackpot is extremely high, and many times I even forget to buy the tickets, then someone wins. So, last night I had to run get gas, and figured I'd buy a few tickets while I was out & thinking about it. I went inside after pumping the gas & told the cashier I wanted 10 tickets & I even picked my own numbers and everything. She proceeded to tell me that it was after 9, so she couldn't sell them to me bc it's against the law. I had NO IDEA!!! I was shocked; I mean, it's not alcohol or anything, so what's the deal with that???
I asked the cashier that question, and of course she had no clue, just told me "it's just a law they made." I kinda got that; I want to know the REASON for the law.

90% of the time, there is no logic behind blue laws.

No, but then again, I live in NYC. Tons of filthy rich people walking the streets.

Nobody is saying that you won't be known in the immediate aftermath of claiming your prize.
quote:Sure, but let's say I don't uproot my family and go into complete seclusion. The people in my city are going to know who I am and that makes my children targets to any desperate person with a hair brained scheme. As parent, I think this would always been in the back of my mind. I'm sure people outside of my community will forget about me in a week.
Remember that old lady in Florida that won 500 million+ just last year? Exactly. I had to Google it and while the info was readily available, I didn't see any news reports of somebody snatching her and mailing her ear to somebody in order to squeeze some ransom dough.
quote:Sure, but that gets discussed all of the time. This was a different angle.
Grifters are a bigger concern than kidnappers.

Yeah, I didn't understand, and still don't, bc at first I thought that the reason had something to do with it being Sunday. Well, when I asked the cashier that question, she said no,that it's ANY night after 9. I have no idea if that's true, but I find that a little hard to believe. Idk, tho, maybe it's true.

good advice in that article. People buy 20 million dollar mansions in LA, then don't understand that the upkeep and property taxes associated with it will make you go broke very fast if you don't invest wisely.
Unfortunately there's a lot of Morons out there that buy car dealerships and invest in retarded family businesses.

I'd secure Blackwater Security Services with the quickness....

Eh, not really. I'd immediately leave town and head somewhere like Santa Monica, CA or The Hamptons or just anywhere that everyone is loaded and they couldn't give a frick less about my money. I'd snag a balling arse hotel and just chill for a couple months until I found a house that was secure as hell.

I read a story about a lottery winner in West Virginia that won a few million. He said it was miserable the amount of people following him, writing to him, trying to talk to him at his favorite breakfast spot, asking him for money for various reasons, and he pretty much had to change his life. Keep in mind this guy was already a millionaire before, but when you the general public just finds out you won a bunch of cash, they will be after you.
I would definitely fear for my safety, because more than likely you have to reveal your name if you win, and then people will find you. There is no rock bottom to how low people will stoop down to for money, and that includes physical harm.

I think there's only 6 states that grant winners privacy.
That's why you claim it with an LLC. You check your numbers to see if they match, then set up the LLC before claiming the prize.

Don't you have to wait a year before collecting with an LLC?
