Exactly the same thing.

Also, you have no clue how anonymous he/she is in their own world/city/neighborhood.

Still ways to minimize the impact.

Claim prize a month later once some of your ducks are in a row, claim prize on Friday afternoon and immediately drive out to some hotel in Houston or Timbuktu for a couple of weeks.

Would you have concerns leaving your kids at school, hiring a sitter, dropping them off for practice, letting them go places with their friends?

You can prepare before you announce it.

Get a good tax attorney

Turn your Facebook page off.

Change you cell number

Get a isolated location that is secure before you announce.

Or just hire me. I have the skills to protect you

Personally, they would probably be too busy helping me pack the house.

I get that there are ways to be protected, but they require that you isolate yourself from the life you currently live. Just something to think about. Also, this is a much easier thing to do if you don't have children.

How do they actually get the money to you? One of those huge checks? I would think it would be transferred by wire

No - just move to a high security condo building in NYC or Paris or London with the other 1%-ers or move into an exclusive gated community in Beverly Hills or Boca Raton.

I would still take those steps out of prudence and because every person you've known will come out of the woodwork.

That doesn't mean I'm worried about the Cartel or some hillbilly tweaker or the Russian Mob coming to kidnap me or some member of my family.

I would still do it. It would just always be in the back of my head I think.

Kind of a hijack: Would you immediately tell your wife or SO if you won?

I might take the kids out of school/daycare for a while. Not because I think someone would do anything to harm them. Just don't want any harassment from other kids, the news, etc.. If I had a billion dollars, my kids not going to any school I can afford currently anyway.

I'm not married. But I'd honestly wait a few weeks or a month before telling my SO. Make sure all my ducks are in a row.

No, because I'd have the sense to immediately hire some off duty cops.
