And the safety of your children?

There are lots of crazy and desperate people around. It would be tough not to consistently worry about your family being targeted.

Ftr, I understand that after taxes and lump sum option the lottery winner wouldn't actually be a billionaire.

I'm assuming it would be announced to the public, no?

but yes, if I won the lottery, I would probably move to a very isolated area with lots of acreage and keep a low profile for awhile

honestly I'd do that even if I didn't win the lottery, but just got rich all of a sudden

YES... There's some crazy frickers out there.... But not out of fear of my kids getting kidnapped, but all the crazies hitting me up for money...

I would do everything to remain anonymous...

Not really. I don't have kids though. Maybe I am just naive but Mark Cuban and tons of other very rich people haven't been kidnapped yet

No. I would claim that shite with an LLC and no one would know except for close family and friends that I know aren't crazy.

Why would I tell you? If I say yes, are you going to try to kidnap them and hold them for ransom?

Get the frick out of here, perv.

Yes. Let's assume that. But even if it isn't, it will almost certainly be discovered who won at some point.

If you pay, I won't do anything pervy, so that is a little presumptuous on your part.

Yep.

Hence why you get a lawyer from another state to go accept the winnings and it all goes into a trust. You take about a year to set yourself up for life to where you never have to worry about anything again.

You, in the meantime, pretend that nothing has happened. At worst, quit your job and go off the radar as much as possible.

I live in BR
I fear for my safety.
If I win a billion?
I no longer live in BR.

Problem solved.

I don't know. I've never discussed it with them. I assume they have to take lots of precautions though. Those kind of precautions likely change your life in a negative way.
