Have a buddy that lives around the corner from WWII museum in WHD. I’ve stayed there many times when I’m in town and I like that area a lot. I’ve never felt unsafe there, but I haven’t been lately. Has it gotten sketchy?

Because everyone would pick the Westbank or the Northshore.

What I'm really trying to find out is if there are any neighborhoods left in New Orleans that are livable.

Algiers is New Orleans on the West Bank and has some good neighborhoods

Depends on your age and stage of life. Young and single then Uptown or Mid-City/City Park area. Kids and older- Lake Vista or Old Metairie. Lakeview is OK, just not as nice as Lake Vista or Old Metairie.

Lake Vista +1

This is a great area. There is a whole very nice section between Robert E. Lee and the lake (from 17th canal almost out to UNO). 90% of the OT doesn't know about this place and I doubt any could afford it anyway.

In order of preference given no monetary constraints?

Audubon
Lake Vista
Lakeshore
Lakeview north of 610 and E of Canal.
West Lakeview/West End.
English Turn

That’s it.

The wife and I are going to will it into existence. We’ve been watching listings for the past year probably and we’re right on the cusp of being able to make it happen. We’ve come close to pulling the trigger on some houses in Lake Terrace or Lakeshore, but decided if we’re going to do it, it’s going to be Lake Vista.

I left NO in '87, never again. The blatant corruption is mind boggling. Now in BR, with the riff-raff that moved here after Katrina, it's just as bad.

We need to blockade I-10 and Airline next time a hurricane is headed to NO.
