Homogenous society. Much smaller population. Much smaller geographic area. Much easier to maintain a sense of control.

Shares values which lead to a high trust environment. We have the complete opposite of that in America

Yep. We're so divided that in this very thread discussing it we have people pointing at different ethnicities as the issue.

At least we'll have more single parents in the future now that abortion is banned.

When it was made legal crime went down because less kids with parents that didn't want them or care for them.

You do understand that low marriage does not mean high single parent homes right?? Those countries will have long term committed relationships while living in separate homes (which sounds awesome some times) where they are together and helping raise the kids just have two houses and live separately, but are together with kids and raising the kids together.

Yep, this is what we do. I have a home I stay in and another home I share with my child's mother.

I spent 70% of the time at my home they dont stay in.

It's also closer to my job

And cohabitation rates are pretty high in that part of the world I think.

So are robust social welfare programs like free daycare, etc.

A big difference is that their collectivist culture is not prone to abuse social welfare, unlike more Anglo cultures. It's the same reason why their unions work better than our unions (again, listen to the podcast I linked if you want to hear this in more depth).

How do you explain being such a moron? I’m guessing it’s because your parents are blood relatives.

Maybe they don’t get married but live the same life where they both support and nurture the children, and maybe, just maybe, they’re not teenage mothers being supported by a rich uncle.

Single parent family probably means a lot different in the US vs over there I'd bet both are still involved even if they aren't married

Scandinavians have had a collectivist culture since at least the time of the Vikings.

Anglo culture is very, very different.

I know what you mean, but I want to be pedantic and point out that Anglos are technically Germans. (English is a Germanic language).

Correct. In most cases, our single parent homes just have a sperm donor father that has no involvement with the child or is in prison.

Isn't it all pretty much Germanic?

Except like the Britons and the weird subcultures found in what we call Spain today.

Are you really going to make a thread that says "the single parent home is no big deal?"

I worked in Scandinavia for years. Denmark mostly. It’s a different planet. Their higher quality of living is solely due to the fact that most of them pay at least 63% of income tax, 25% sales tax, 200% car tax, etc., so that they can get their basic needs taken care of by the government and focus on other shite. I prefer our freedom of choice in the states personally, but they’re smaller countries out there and can manage blanket government benefits easier.

As far as marriage, many Scandinavians have kids with 2 parent households and they’re not married. They’re big on monogamy. You do not need marriage for that, newsflash to all the southerners who cannot wrap their head around that.

I worked in a close circle of 10 different people. All of their parents were still together with the exception of one guy whose dad passed away. 2 of them had kids and weren’t married, but still with the mother. They just don’t tie too much into the label and I’m not sure what benefits marriage offers in Scandinavia outside of being the “way of God”, which they don’t care about. They’re already taxed 63% for every dollar they make over $70k in Denmark. shite, I knew a priest who was an atheist there. Different planet.

There’s just this weird “you must be married or life is pointless and you’re a bad person” culture in the south that’s really stupid, unless you’re talking about whatever financial benefits it brings to your particular situation.

TL;DR - OP needs to travel more.
