re: Iberville Parish is producing NFL players at roughly 48 times the national rate

Former coach of mine used to be head coach at East Iberville.

He said they had more raw talent than any other team he coached but also had no discipline or work ethic compared to other teams he coached.

He stated a historical fact.

We some dogs over here..

Also Emorey Jones is from Iberville Parish, but he went to Catholic.

But this is an example of how much of an impact coaching can have. If you don't have a coach willing to help you get into camps, etc.. In today's recruiting its hard to get on the radar without going to camps, etc

When I was in high school.. At Plaquemine high. There were dudes who, when they got to high school.. They would be 2, 3 years behind and was just waiting until they were old enough to quit school,

The basketball teams, year after year, was pretty good. One year played and lost in a state championship, next year quarter finals.. There were dudes who were throwing away their life, dropping out of school and never played organized basketball, but could jump out of the gym. We used to talk about how we could go to three areas in just the Plaquemine area, get the most athletic dudes who dropped out, got expelled, etc and put together a basketball team that would beat every HS team in the state no matter the class.

There was this one dude who played point guard in PE. Was smooth, could hand the ball and was uncoached. He was maybe 5'7. 5'8.. and would dunk in 3 on 3 games with no effort.. Or at least it looked that way. The basketball coach was begging that dude to play. He had two years of eligibility. He came to school every day then his birthday was in October, November. I just remember it was right before the 3rd 9 weeks. He dropped out. He was D1 talent, just didn't have the guidance at home.

Burning cane don't just clear the rabbits out. Every year about this time.. the mice become a problem. You got to put the poison out early and take care of them before they multiply.

I think that's basically how the Fonde Rec Center in Houston became legendary back in the day. It was within walking distance of the old projects, and NBA players used to go down there to work out with the guys from the hood.

Jimmy the Greek was wrong. It was stupid to credit black athletic performance to selective breeding (that is, not natural selection, but eugenics). That would not explain the superior athletic performance of native Africans.
