So you think St. George broke me because I pointed out the ignorance of your statement that "nothing happened" to Wells Fargo after its fraud was discovered? That's some weak sauce you got there....

The country isn't better off when we are left with only TBTF banks.
There are over 15,000 domestic banks in the US. By comparison, Canada has 29.

And only 13 of those 15,000 banks in the U.S. are considered too big to fail.

Your hyperbole is just dumb.....

Years back I went with IberiaBank because I wanted a local bank.

Should I consider switching again? Are there advantages to using a larger bank vs a smaller local one?

No because you choose to die upon a dumb hill like whether or not $4B is a lot of money over 20 years to Wells Fargo.

I see your point (even though stock market is completely separate than govt regulation/fines) but I choose to believe otherwise. It is a dumb thing to argue over but you seem like you may be broken and want to argue over something so dumb so I will let you have it.

Small banks are dying and it isn't a great thing for us. I just don't want my point to be lost in some argument over what is arguably material to Wells Fargo.

Probably because he doesn't own the land, just lives on it for free

yeah that makes no sense. that land is only going to become less valuable over time (unless there is a shot at oil or something)

don't. it's true.

I'm not "dying" on that issue. You are. I'm just telling you that your "nothing happened" comment is just dumb.

And see my edit to my post above to see more of your ignorance revealed.

Memphis is perhaps the worst place in America. It makes NOLA look like a gem. I’d rather live in Jackson.

Serious question since you like to talk down to people. What is the difference between your 15k and this 5.9k? I know you didn't just make that number up.

The move to Memphis was a "very simple business decision," Daryl G. Byrd, president and CEO of IBERIABANK, said at a press conference Monday. The 150-year-old First Horizon has $11 billion in deposits in Memphis, and the 132-year-old IBERIABANK has $2.6 billion in deposits in Lafayette

I can see HomeBank, Gulf Coast Bank, and First Bank & Trust being easy targets for some of the national banks.

Too small. Iberia had been getting aggressive for the last decade or so and had increased its footprint along the Gulf Coast. Home Bank and First Bank are nowhere near as big.

I was always surprised that Whitney got bought out by Hancock....would have thought it would be the other way around. Louisiana banks are not aggressive as a whole and never have been. Iberia has sort of been the exception.

I was relying upon something I read recently about banks in the U.S. Obviously I either mis-remembered what I read or their number was wrong. Or, maybe what I read about was the total number of financial institutions in the U.S. including credit unions, foreign banks and savings banks. Feel better?

In any case, your "we're left with only having too big to fail banks" is still a dumb statement. The U.S. is literally the most over-banked country in the world.

I'm going to say mostly yes... you are going to point out something not nice, I'm going to counter with something nicer you are going to counter with something not nicer and I'm going to dunk on you by pointing out St. Jude. So let's just agree to disagree and you can stnd there in your wrongness being wrong.
