I imagine if you are in a good branch like Prytania you will be fine. Non customer facing people should have a polished resume ready by lunchtime.

Sounds like the name of a bank for people with bad credit to get personal loans.

The huge wave of acquisitions and mergers in banking is 100% do to increased regulation after the financial crisis. Bank s at every level are dealing with increased compliance cost. The problem is that banks like Iberia and FTN were not involved in the asset securitization markets and CDS markets where the biggest losses occurred. However, as always - dump arse politicians create rules that have unintended consequences. In 2007 there were 7,200 banks in america - now we are sub 5k and declining. Community banks will eventually be extinct.

Yep. Wells Fargo can commit a giant fraud and nothing happen. Any small bank does same and people will go to jail. To Big To Fail is not good. It is one of reasons capitalism has a bad name.

I have one business account with them and they haven’t been bad.

Iberia has been great but not having someone reach out to me about this merger at this point is unacceptable

I wouldn't say paying over four BILLION dollars in fines and settlements is "nothing."

Without context that seems like a lot. But, much of that was just paid and related to the financial crisis. How material was that really for 20+ years to them?

ETA: WFC market cap is $226 BILLION

The bank has paid out more than $4 billion in settlements and fines since September 2016, much of it stemming from problems that came to light following the sales scandal.
It's all fraud related, right?

And four billion is NOT "nothing" no matter how big WF is. Plus, their two most recent CEOs were forced to resign over the scandals. That's not even counting the asset cap limit the Federal Reserve sanctioned WF with.
