So what percentage of “Floridians” are new enough to the affected areas to have no idea what hell they’re about to go through?
I just went to Home Depot and Walmart got a generator, an AC, Tarps, 5 more cases of water (must be up to 30 right now), batteries, filled up 3 gas cans.
You would have thought it was a normal Tuesday morning.

3 days before Hurricane Michael hit Florida as a Cat 5, NHC projections had it hitting as a Cat 1
They get intensity wrong all the time, not to mention they are forecasting rapid intensification, which is notoriously hard to pinpoint

Why? You can fly to Cuba now if you want...I would suggest waiting a few weeks.

I've got a flight out of ATL Friday afternoon. Wondering if I should look for a morning flight or maybe even Thursday...

I heard that impact point has changed from Tampa to Port Charlotte. Any truth to that? Pretty sure it was wxman

At this point go with NHC and trusted local weather sources for critical updates.

No. The NHC guidance just released still has it hitting just south of St. Pete going NE.

Received official notice we are being deployed at 5PM yesterday. No details were included--only that we would be deployed somewhere in the affected area as soon as field conditions permitted

My Heroes after Ida, to a man great people genuinely concerned about us civilians. I rode around where safe in my pickup with a couple ice chests full of different type cold drinks for them. Wanted to help even if only in my little way.
Seriously, TYFYS.
